I got a gift certificate to a day at the spa (facial, deluxe back massage, and manicure/pedicure, inc. foot massage). And some gift cards. And taken out to dinner (twice). So not that exciting, photo-wise.

But maybe I'll take a photo of the flowers and books I got later.

Thanks. It was a good one. We went to Minneapolis for the week. Drove up on Monday because he had some meetings on Tuesday. On Tuesday, we went to see Robin Hood (he really liked it, I thought it was merely okay). Wednesday, we did the Mall and went to a Twins game (the new stadium is amazing ). We did the birthday last night, knowing we wanted to drive home today for the weekend (mainly because of traffic, but also because we had stuff going on at home this weekend). After playing golf at a pretty nice little course in Crystal Lake, he took me back to the hotel so I could get ready while he went out to do a little shopping. We had a lovely dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis - The Oceannaire. Our waiter, Ricardo, was wonderful. He's Portuguese - and actually sang some fado for us. Made some lovely recommendations with respect to wine and dessert, and generally treated us like royalty. When we got back to the hotel, Sweetie asked me to wait downstairs for a few minutes. When I got up to the room, he had sprinkled rose petals over the bed, lit candles and had music playing. He gave me a ginormous card, flowers and the ring. It was beautiful.

Oh my, that's lovely...does sweetie have an older brother???

Awww. I know how you feel. Doesn't it hurt just a lil bit? That's why I try not to get too excited about my birthday. If I don't expect anything, then I'm not disappointed, but if I do expect something and don't get a damn thing, then I'm very, very hurt. Especially when I go out of my way to remember my friends' and family's birthdays. I'm gonna be a bitch this year and purposely forget one of my girlfriend's birthday. It never fails that if I don't call her the first thing on her birthday, she will call me to remind me it's her day. She's a Gemini. Last year I got her a card and gift, but when my birthday occurred almost one month to the day later, I didn't even get a phone call from her. I can't wait to see how she reacts to my dis this year! It might seem petty, but I'm a very, very loyal friend, and it just stings when my so-called friend disappoints me continuously. I guess she's not my true friend, huh?

This year I took a trip to Barcelona and Prague with several great friends. On my birthday, we hiked to the top of Montserrat, about an hour outside of Barcelona. I think this view from the top was my best present to myself:
