Modeling agencies?

Has anyone used a modeling agency for babies/children?

A dear friend suggested that I look into getting the little man into some modeling since he is so smiley and cute.

So, I did some research online and found an International company that looked really professional and they do not share photos online of their models.

I filled out an application and attached a few photos.
They called me a few days later and asked questions about him, his personality and behaviour.

The agent that had our application felt that he would be good for modeling so she submitted the information and photos to the committee for approval.

He was selected and we were offered a three year contract. There is a fee for the contract.

I do not know anyone personally that has done this.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you.

apparently Valory, there should never be a fee attached to anything. It is similar to getting an agent- you don't pay the agent a fee to represent you- the agent gets u work THEN the agent takes a portion but I've heard that people who charge fees r baloney, they was an agency I was loving but then I searched it on the net and turns out it was a scam and it was said numerous times to never pay anyone a fee upfront.

My sister was offered a contract with an agency for a fee.

DO. NOT. DO. IT. if there is a fee attached.
Don't.

Some parent had the same offer and did some research and discovered that there were hundreds of kids being signed in the same city---that's not possible considering the market is niche.

There are legit agencies, but you should never have to pay for contracts.
Also, if you're not having to try out several times, and the process seemed really, easy be suspicious.

Lastly, google the company you went to with the word "scam" and see what comes up.

No reputable agencies charges a fee or charge for test shots for portfolio’s, I would stay well clear of that company MrsMdiver.

I was just doing more research...this company is overseen by the government but is on the watchdog list for possible scam.

confuse

Sorry for them that I am cheap/tight/frugal so they are not getting my money.

no no no!

Thanks everyone for your help. Obviously, I am not model material and have never used a modeling agency.

I would get an agency in ur local area (direct port of call) & they will represent ur child globally. They do charge for a portfolio though, & the Z-cards (as they can be taken with u if the agency comes up with nothing).

What side of the pond u on?
There r photographers that r getting their folio together, u can contact some of the uni's for them or the agency will put u in touch with them.

a friend of mine was contacted on the street. it didn't seem so weird
since she is in fact absolutely stunning.

they gave her an adress and told her to come by and have pics taken,
so she did.

they took like 100 pics, which i already thought to be very strange,
and then they gave HER the negatives, told her to have them developed
and come back.

oh, and did i mention she had to pay 300 euros for that? disbelief

i still can't believe she fell for that. there were more girls at the
'office' that day. like 20 or something. all the same story.

when she went back to the joint after the photo's were developed the
con artists had already left. they'd rented the office for a week,
taking hundreds and hundreds of girls' money and then just went on
their merry way.

Before I moved to Europe I used to be a children's wardrobe stylist in the States, and worked with kids daily for most nationally distributed fashion catalogs, the weekly Sunday paper ad books, and editorial from out of New York,Germany, and Italy (Parent,Sesame Street, Vogue Bambini, etc.). You should not be paying a fee to any agency for representation, because the fact is, they will make 15-20%off of every booking they secure for your child and each job booked is generally starting at a 2 hour minimum. I don't know what the booking rates are in England but in the US kids start at $65 an hour (unless it's a fashion magazine editorial, but I'll explain that later). The only thing you might have to spend just a few dollars on is getting the pics for your baby's set card, but any reputable children's agency already has relationships with testing photographers and you will come out of it having to pay for nothing but prints for your kid's portfolio, as the photographer will supply the agency with digital pics and they can be uploaded onto their websites, sent to their graphic designers for the set cards etc. Also, at this point your baby is too young for portfolio because he will change so fast physically in this first year, so the agency really will work primarily off of set (aka composite) cards, and his pcs posted on their site. More to come, but my dog needs to get out of the office for a tinkle lol

OMG...I did not need that mental image first thing in the morning.

falloff

I think this idea is probably a waste of time.
I do not understand how the companies like the one that offered us a contract keep getting big clients like Pampers if they are frauds.

make sure if they ask you for money you tell them to get fucked wave hope that helps

A genuine modelling agency will not ask you for anything.

A lot of these so called agencies simply live off the fees from the models and only a very few of the kids on their book ever get any jobs. Those ones don't knock back any kids, even ones that will (sadly) never get picked for a job - a genuine agency will knock back those kids if they don't have what it takes.
