Am I the only person who's kind of tired of grown adults trying to make kids think they're 'cool'?

I'm not talking about being affable or having fun with kids and trying to get them to like us.

I'm talking about trying to look 'hip' to them. Like saying "I know who that singer is!" and so forth

as if you're trying to impress damned children!

I'll admit it ---I'm a total GRUP. Most of you here on the org that I get along with are obvious

GRUPs. And I don't think they're is anything wrong with being a GRUP; however, folks who

are seeking some type of 'coolness cred' from damned teenagers and children baffle me.

Is it just me or do way too many people do this?

Sometimes, children don't need to see THAT MUCH OF YOURSELF

As a high school teacher, I have to agree with that. Some of them think we don't know ANYTHING about music or pop culture. When I mention that I've gone to a concert, the kids say things like, "You go out?!" like I live in the school!

And I LOVE the ones who have discovered their parents' music collection and try to school us on the stuff we grew up on.

Can't stand them, anymore than I can't stand the ones who are set in their ways and think ALL kids don't have it together without any shred of intelligence, when some of these kids can teach those old farts many things.

I had somewhat of a problem growing up with "normal" teenagers. When the other kids were listening to *Nsync, I was listening to the Jackson 5. When other kids idolized Britney Spears, I was all about Cyndi Lauper. When young girls swooned over Usher, I shook my head -- Terence Trent D'Arby did it first. I also constantly got the piss teased out of me whenever the topic of our little Purple Prick came up.

The point I'm making is that if you're not someone who follows whatever trend was going around amongst the younger crowd, they outcast you no matter WHAT age you are.

like you cant be rude......no they dont know, but thats half my own personal fun...heh, heh. lol
