NFL: Giants and Jets Huge Favorites to Host Super Bowl in 2014

http://www.nydailynews.co...allin.html

Yes!!! It's about damn time the NY/NJ metro area hosts the Super Bowl. To all the pussified naysayers, get a clue. Football is meant to be played in the elements. Some of the greatest playoff games in NFL history have been in cold weather(most recently the Giants/Packers NFC title game).

I'm down with Chi-town - snowstorms enhance NFL games. One of the greatest games in Patriots history - the 'Tuck Game' vs. the Raiders. How awesome was that?

LOL, the question isn't if football is meant to be played in the elements but if it's meant to be watched in them.

nod They will only do that game somewhere cold in a dome.

Plus, the Superbowl is not about the game but rather about the fans who will travel to be in the city regardless of whether they will watch a game or not and drop a grip in that community and the NFLs pockets. I seriously doubt people would rather go to NYC in the February than to Miami for SB activities. If a SB in NY turns out to be anything like the snowstorms in Detroit or Atlanta which generated much less money than SBs in warm climes it will be the last time NYC gets a SB. nod

spit I mean all the hoopla surrounding the SB. The reason the NFL had 3 out of the last 4 games in Florida is because they know they will attract more people to those cities in the dead of winter. The majority of the people who go there and generate BILLIONS of dollars are not going to the game and most could care less about that. They are there for the experience. Good, warm weather is KEY to getting them to spend money and that's all the NFL and my good buddy Jerry care about. If a SB in NY isn't a resounding success it will be another generation before they get one again. There's too much money at stake to do this event in a cold clime regularly or in a stadium without a dome.

True but not in fucking NY,Pittsburgh,Green Bay,or Cleveland in February on the
biggest stage of them all. With that said playing it outdoors in a city with a
milder climate like Nashville is cool. All the other south Midwestern cities
like St.Louis,Dallas,New Orleans, and Houston either have domes or retractable
roofs. Hell i don't even want to visit fam in NY in February more or less
go to watch a damn Super Bowl in fucking 16 degree weather. I think most fans
who are traveling would like to enjoy it in a warm weather climate or
a climate control dome. I would like to see the Super Bowl come back to
Atlanta. They need to get their asses in the bidding. mad

Ummmm, Atlanta I think not. They had ice storms the last time and the cell phone service collapsed. The weather seriously curtailed the partying and the NFL and the city didn't make as much money as expected. hmph!

Atlanta and Detroit are perfect examples of why the SB should always be done in a dome if the host city is in a cold place because despite the weather the game went off without a hitch.

That was the exception not the rule. It was just plain rainy and dreary
much like Jacksonville but believe me Jacksonville was much more of a
disaster than Atlanta because of Jacksonville simply being a smaller
market. Atlanta is still a major player in the Southeast. If they can
hold it in New Orleans every so often, why not Atlanta. shrug

Cuz NO doesn't get snowstorms OR cold weather in January/February. Atlanta lobbied hard to get 2009 and they were still rejected in favor of Phoenix because of the impact the weather had back in 2000. Like I said, it has nothing to do with executing the game itself, but if there's a chance the other events and people spending money will be adversely impacted it ain't gon' happen.

I agree, the only chance of a Northern city to host a superbowl is if they have a dome.

Super Bowl in NYC? mad If you're gonna get bold about it, then they need to send it to Green Bay. woot! headbang Who gives a crap about a bunch of spoiled Wall Street hedge fund and oil company executives who don't want to sit in the cold for four hours to watch the Super Bowl; let the real fans watch real players playing in the elements for the NFL championship.
