RIP Golden Girl Rue McClannahan

Rue McClanahan, the actress known for her roles as the blowzy best friend Vivian on "Maude" and as the prowling Southern belle Blanche on "The Golden Girls," has died. She was 76. Her manager, Barbara Lawrence, told CNN that she died at 1 a.m. Thursday at New York Presbyterian Hospital of a stroke. Her family was at her side.

The Golden Girls was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Sadly, I worked the night it came on television (Before DVDRs and such), so I missed so many episodes.
Great show. I'm thankful for the laughs they've given me.
RIP Blanche.

I was reading something about a new show that Betty White is doing yesterday and Rue McClannahan crossed my mind. I was hoping with Betty White's resurgance in popularity, that maybe she and Rue may have been able to work together again. Now that definitely won't be happening and it makes me even sadder.

i loved how Rue used to take the grandma's jabs at her sluttiness with a real laugh, you could tell she just couldn't keep a straight face and had to laugh it out

me too. it's timeless.
also besides their great comedy, i loved the 2-part episode they did where they slammed terrible doctors who instead of telling you they're not sure of your diagnoses, they just tell you you're fine and let you go thinking you're crazy. it was amazingly written. | |
