Cystic Fibrosis awareness

Friday is "65 roses" day here in Australia.

"65 roses" is said to be an attempt by a little boy to say Cystic Fibrosis, the condition that his sister suffered from
http://www.65rosesday.org...-roses.htm

Cystic Fibrosis (also known as CF) is a common hereditary disease which affects the entire body, causing progressive disability and often early death. The name cystic fibrosis refers to the characteristic scarring (fibrosis) and cyst formation within the pancreas, first recognized in the 1930s. Difficulty breathing is the most serious symptom and results from frequent lung infections that are treated, though not cured, by antibiotics and other medications. A multitude of other symptoms, including sinus infections, poor growth, diarrhea, and infertility result from the effects of CF on other parts of the body
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...c_fibrosis

some of the things suffers have to go thru are regular physio to help shift mucus, frequent hospital visits for "tune ups" as well as taking enzymes with every meal to help with food digestion.

CF is an awful disease. My husband lost a nephew at the age of 3 to this horrible disease, and has another nephew with CF as well. (he is 18)

my sisters step son also has CF (19)

and a girl i went to school with lost her sister in he early 20's rose

If you can, please donate on friday to help find a cure for this cruel disease.

Hello Tracy. hug

I do not know anyone who has CF, but I was struck by a story I read on CNN a few months ago about Eva Markvoort, whose life was the subject of a documentary. She passed away recently at 26 years old. Seeing her in the months up to the time, still smiling and laughing with her friends, was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

it is very sad..

Suffers are living longer now, with early diagnosises and treatment, but there is still no cure, and it affects different ppl in different ways.

who knows what will lie ahead for my 2 nephews.
