Severe anxiety!

The kid basically has severe ADHD, mild OCD, mild ODD, mild bipolar and severe general anxiety disbelief Sheesh!

Today he bout freaked out because he saw a bug....like almost hyperventilating and drama and shit. The bug had crawled in his bed like 4 hours ago, so now he didn't want to go to bed because the bug might still be in it, even though we had supposedly killed it hours ago hmmm A few nights ago, he freaked out over a thunderstorm to the point where he asked his grandma to sleep in her room (she said no! hmph! )

It's not that he's fearful that irks me....it's the excessive drama and panic attacking that is worrisome, plus he just acts like a damn sissy, screaming like a girl and whatnot (hell, I don't even scream like that so.... hmph! ). I'm like you don't have to like bugs, but instead of running around screaming just take your shoe off and kill al-fuckin-ready. He does the same thing if we are eating and there's a fly, starts excessively waving his arms around and acting itchy and making high-pitched girly sounds...it's like, really? That dire? hmph!

Do you know I had to threaten to tap dat azz if he did not stop the shenanigans and get in the damn bed? disbelief

I think the worst part of seeing him is that I can see why I have problems with anxiety and all. He got the genetic shit card for sure! sad

I'm very familiar with patterns like these. And it's frustrating when people act like you're just being insensitive and uncaring - when you know the shit they pull like the back of your hand!

It's hard being a good parent as opposed to a nice one.

Chris and I were just discussing the other day how our main job as parents is NOT to love them. Loving them is a given, and is the impetus for all that we do for them. But our job, our task, is to teach them to be independent, well-rounded and functional people. That often involves a lot of so-called tough love and calling them on their BULLSHIT. It drives me up the wall when people act like small children are incapable of manipulative behavior. They fucking excel at it! lol

you just don't know, every time I hear about "how innocent children are" I 'bout pass out from laughing so damn hard and rolling my damn eyes at the same time...

this is the child that started out with people telling me "children are a blessing" to "yeah, you're fucked" mad

hell, I was a damn child....and I was NOT innocent wink

It will be nice if I can help him learn to be an independent sensible and caring human being with self-pride and self-confidence....but as we all know there are a lot of adult idiots in the world, someone must be related to them...

I'll settle for you had best learn how to cook, clean and wipe your own ass because you are so outta here at 18.

Being a parent is easy. nod

Being a good parent is hard! sad

Most parents I've encountered are like swans, try to present themselves as cool, calm and in control on the surface, but underneath drinking excessively when the wee blighters are finally asleep in bed! Ok, maybe not exactly like swans. Except maybe alcoholic swans. Do you get alcoholic swans? confused

Anyway, hope you get my drift. You're not alone! Keep up the good work! thumbs up!

With complete and utmost respect, perhaps that's just who he is. And if that's the case, it's not going to help him or change his behavior by mom getting irked by his natural reaction to things, he's really gonna need all the support you can provide him. Easy for me to suggest, because I don't have to listen to the screaming or be embarrassed because "he just acts like a damn sissy", I know. Poor little guy. neutral He's gonna need his mama to stay strong.

falloff lol touched That kid's got a lot of personality, lol. I bet he's famous when he grows up. nod Bet mom won't be irked when he buys you a mansion and a Bentley for putting up with his madness, lol. Kanye West probably acted the same way at that age, lol.

Sounds to me like your son is very expressive, and has good energy. Personally, I think you're blessed. Stay strong, the world is full of bugs and thunderstorms, lol.

nod

It's important to make it very clear very early what's acceptable and what isn't. A lot of parents act like negative behavior is really cute (which, let's face it, it sometimes is!), which only reinforces it. Then when the kid gets a little older, the parents become totally frustrated that the child is continuing the behavior they themselves reinforced over and over -- giggling, telling the story to others in front of the child, or otherwise encouraging instead of correcting it.
It's what you make it.

Orgnote.

McMeekle...how do non-drinking parents cope?
What other stress relief tactics do Swans partake in?

Sorry BklynBabe....I hope it gets better soon.

I watched this lil fucker first steal when he was 3 DAYS old, no lie....

to be honest, he is the same child he has always been since he was born- nosy, contrary, dramatic, don't listen, don't learn...this shit starts at birth, and maybe even before birth! You can't imagine the amount of elbow grease I have put in the past few years trying to get this lil fucker some ackrite brick

Oh yes to make it worse he is a Sagittarius....I'm a Scorpio!!! There's just no way for us to see eye to eye LOL. Now see his mother was a Libra, she had a chance, plus that whole maternal thing.
