I can't even imagine!! We've all seen bad endings to a series, be it books or movies or tv shows. It's frustrating to see a beloved series end badly. I can't help but think, though, that it won't be the case here in the slightest! You so see the big pictures and you're so creative it's not even funny. Just thinking about it makes me excited for you to write it i have the whole cycle mapped out in broad terms. all the foundation is laid, all the characters are set, all the broad story is laid out. the beginnings and endings are there, as are the inner and inter play story lines. i am already about 25 pages in the "manly men". that one just seems to be writing itself. not having to write non-linearly and not writing a mystery makes it much easier. it's also me going back to my writing roots in comedy, which makes it a LOT easier too. i had never written drama before "gaging", and once i finish the cycle i can't imagine ever wanting to again. i like comedy, it's much more natural to me. the third is comedy, masculinity, fatherhood, marriage, straight guys and a gay guy, motherhood and feminism, turning 30, a week long camping trip, alcoholism, drugs, nostalgia about childhood, and a killer moth. the fourth will be ben (and others) hitting rock bottom. the fifth is everything i have covered to that point and everyone's ending and how it all ties together. god willing... . so i just got the office/art containment center that the readings are at. on the way i ran into amy sedaris, who i am a HUGE fan of, both her comedy and her writing. she walked with me for 6 blocks talking about writing.
and she even stopped and waited for me when i dropped my ipod. totally awesome woman. apparently she has a craft book coming up, similar to her fabulously funny cookbook from a few years back. totally a good omen. Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton | |
