Jack Cole I just read Jack Cole's story Murder Morphine and Me and the blurb on the author was interesting
Jack Cole was a comic book writer and illustrator. He created the character Plastic Man. He also drew Pin-ups and Good Girl art, appearing monthly in Playboy. In 1958 he realized a dream in the form of a daily strip: Betsy and Me Also in 1958 he drove in to town, bought a gun, called his neighbor to say what he was doing and to talk to his wife, and then shot and killed himself. He had mailed out two letters, one to his wife and one to his friend Hugh Hefner. At an inquest his wife explained that he had stated his reasons in the letter. She never talked to his familly again She never talked to Hefner again She has never divulged the contents of the letter Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there
