Computer Help Needed: Computer Crash Unmountable_Boot_Volume
stop error: 0X00000ED (0X86364030, 0XC000006, 0X00000, 0X00000) This isn't a big deal, mostly everything has been backed up still I have a few files I would like to recover. When I tried to restart in Safe Mode, I gotta look of "data" files. Can I use Linux to recovery CD? Persario Notebook: OS: Windows XP SP3 Thanks!

I was just looking at this! Great minds think alike, maybe I should leave my mind out of it. I in that site it had this link, to burn a rescue disk - http://www.knopper.net/kn...ex-en.html I wonder, which one do I choose to burn to a CD.

When you got into Safe Mode and saw the files, you couldn't copy the ones you wanted to a usb thumb drive?

Different servers, but all hosting the same file for download. No? I would choose the Purdue or University of Wisconsin servers. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Do a backup of your data using whatever BootCD/Floppy/USB thing. I use the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows http://www.ubcd4win.com/index.htm to load the system into the network, then copy the files out to a server. You can use this to attach a USB Stick or an Enternal hard Drive.
Then, I would reboot the pc, hit F8 like you were going into Safe Mode, but do a Repair instead. Alternately, you can boot with an XP install disk and do a repair. If the repair doesn't work, reinstall the OS from scratch. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
