Cody Chesnutt

I saw the "Look Good in Leather" video one night after hearing Cody Chesnutt's name a couple of times. I liked it enough to want the album. Now I've gone on an all out manhunt for a copy of it. Tower Records, and Virgin Records don't have it, even the local indie shop doesn't have it. So I ordered it from Amazon w/2 day delivery. It was supposed to be here today but hasn't even shipped! I also bought tickets to the show he's doing in NYC next friday. I've become obsessed over an artist I've heard a total of 4 songs from (love the song he does on the new Roots album).

Is anyone into him? Does anyone have the CD? Will I enjoy it? Will the show be a good one?

I have "The Headphone Masterpiece". I don't know what you're expecting this album to be, but it has a lot of nerve and edge. It was recorded on his home 4 track. It has some beautiful songs and some ass-kickin rock-n-roll soul. It isn't a polished studio record, which is defintely part of its beauty. I just saw him open for Erykah Badu and It was a power trio. It blew away the album. He has alot of stage presence and the sound is gutbucket and raw. He will be around for quite sometime. I understand why he put the album out on his own. The sterile and generic record labels wouldn't be able to find a category to market him in. Which is sadly the case for any brothas playing anything other than rap or r-n-b.
good luck!
