San Francisco grab yer ankles...

I will be in you next week.

Who has suggestions on where to go, where to eat and what to do? It's my first time out there...very excited!

And what do I bring to wear? Rumor has it that everyone who goes to San Fran comes home with a new sweater. Brrr!

But I don't know if putting me and her together in a small enclosed space would work all that well.

Firggin hilarious!

I don't know if it's too late to save this thread or not Carrie, but i'll throw you a few bones.

One of best friend's on the planet lives in SF and I've been out to see him probably 7 or 8 times now over the years. Love love love the city.

If you're going to be staying strictly within the city limits, there's enough touristy stuff to keep busy that your days will fill up quickly.

But if you're going to be there for a little while and can get around by car, Point Reyes is about a two hours drive outside the city and is absolutely gorgeous.

http://pointreyesphotoguide.com/

It's a nice scenic, peaceful drive and it is definitely away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I'd also recommend Sausalito if you can get over there. (I think it's about 20 minutes outside SF proper). Quite touristy but pretty nevertheless.

I've never been to SanFran; but if I visited I'd be sure to check out SF MoMA.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Thank you! We are there for a week and will have a car. Staying with my friend's family both in the city and a little bit outside of the city.

We'll be at the Bay to Breakers parade...on a float with a keg no less. The theme is super heroes and villians...I'll be cat woman with chucks because I don't have much room in my suitcase for the big boots!

Oh yes, you better bring a sweater and a jacket. Folks think SF is like LA and make the mistake of walking around in shorts and no jacket. The weather channel is your friend.

As for eateries, I don't eat out much, so I don't know beyond North Beach Pizza, maybe Cheesecake Factory, the ultimate tourist eatery stop. Just go for the cheesecake, at least. Also, go to Golden Gate Park, walk across the GGBridge, take a tour of Alcatraz, and check out Pac Bell ballpark and eat at Momo's across the street.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
