I've always wondered how folks sail for long periods of time considering the chances of inclement weather. At least on land you can run and hide somewhere, but in the middle of the ocean where you gonna go? How come we don't hear about personal boats sinking more often? hmmm

First I want to get a very small place in Bang Saen, in Thailand. Just a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom place with basic cooking stuff (portable stove, barbecue on the porch). Just a place to chuck our bags, head to the beach for some seafood, and then crash at night. smile

Are you sure it said 300 square feet and not 300 square meters (300 m2)?
Because for a 300 m2 apartment/villa whatever..it's not a bad price at all.

In those international house hunter clubs, they've been advertising the land there for years for plantation use (I think teak wood?). I know you haven't lived there full on since childhood...but that being your original stomping grounds, what do you think about an investment like that? It seems like the main land sales are going in Panama, Costa Rica, and Brasil for wood and eucalyptus farming. pc

Poiple

Either the Outer Banks, NC (northern part, near Duck or Corolla) or Isle of Palms, SC. I would lean a little more towards Isle of Palms.

Yeah, I saw that episode it WAS 300 sq ft. shake Actually they've had a couple eps in Paris and both apts were TINY and needed lots of work. Yeah, they can keep that shit. But it's interesting to see how folks live in other parts of the world. The whole washing machine in the kitchen or bathroom thing is a trip to me. lol

hmmm Really? I don't know nothing about no farming. But I'm going for 2 weeks next month to check things out. I'm not a nature girl so I want to be in a highrise. I like to look at nature, from afar, with a drink in my hand. lol

Panama City is very much like SoBe but 45% of the country is protected for wildlife conservation and for the indigenous people. From an investment standpoint it looks like a great spot. Lots of expats are moving there plus I have a lot of cousins there still. I believe it is the #1 destination for American retirees. They also have a new hospital affiliated with Johns Hopkins so healthcare is supposed to be pretty good and MUCH cheaper than here. My cousin is a doctor and most of her doctor friends went to Harvard.

But I'ma try to get my Panamanian citizenship reinstated because foreigners have no rights even if they own property. I read somewhere you're not allowed to sell property you own if you're a foreigner. So, i gotta figure out the best approach.

I think its interesting how here in the states a big kitchen is almost a must, but anywhere else and its like.... Meh, who needs a kitchen, lets just eat out... lol

Gorgeous...

When I was there the traffic moved one way in a big circle around the island. If you missed your turn, you had to drive all the way around again - about 30 minutes, iirc. The driver nearly missed it a second time, and I thought I would have walked back to the hotel, but it's just so beautiful to be there & see. love
