But the quick release has given pirates the opportunity to copy the movie and leak it. According to reports, camcorder-shot copies of the movie are available for download on a string of torrent sites online. It was already on the streets of Bangkok here. But Thais like to go see movies in the cinema even if they buy the pirated bootlegs. Very few THais own home theater systems. And I'm one of those folks who finds watching movies at home a bit depressing--so even when I get in the position to own a home over here with a pimpass t.v. I don't think I'll ever not go the cinemas. But yeah--it's all over the place here already. I love going to the movies! The dark cavernous room, huge screen, overpriced popcorn, and 5-gallon bucket of soda...it's just an overall experience I've always really liked. I don't go as often as I used to But when a film like this comes out, that I have been waiting for literally years to see, I'll see it in the theater at least once. I saw it late last night... but fell asleep during the middle! It didn't seem to have a very good/engaging storyline. And the part where Scarlett and the director (who shouldn't be in it!) walk into the place and she fights all these people in this weird lo-fi sped up visual style was STUPID looking and stupid playing in the plot flow. Excuse you all, but I also enjoy the Iron Man VS. War Machine scene, even if poor Tony was drunk the whole time.

Nevertheless, it had some genuinely funny moments, and Robert Downey Jr. once again made the movie. He made an otherwise by-the-book action movie truly magical the first time out, and he kept this movie from turning into a bloated crap fest like Transformers 2. Mickey Rourke was okay, but he wasn't given much to do in this movie. His character could have been a more menacing villain if they had developed him more.
But it looks as though they're already setting up the Marvel spinoffs. They mentioned the Avengers midway through the movie and had Samuel L. Jackson in a cameo role playing Nick Fury, and in one scene Tony Stark needs to prop up one of his scientific gadgets, and he asks someone to bring him an artifact that looks like Captain America's shield. And if you stay through the end of the credits, they show something landing in the middle of the desert that also seems to reference either Captain America or Thor. It was Thor's hammer that was in the Mexican desert. And no, it's not a spoiler alert. The recent reports come out of Hollywood already confirm that a Thor movie would be done right before a Captain America. The only thing missing in The Avengers build-up is how to debut The Wasp & Ant-Man/Giant-Man is one of these films.

Him being drunk is part of what made it awesome. Even when he's trashed, Iron Man can kick some ass. Facebook, I haz it - https://www.facebook.com/Nikster1969

I think there was really no good reason to have Scarlet Johannsen in the movie. Sure, they needed to introduce the character but she did nothing interesting and added nothing to the plot. If folk want eye candy, can't they just buy whatever latest men's magazine Scarlet's posing in? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

They did hint at subtly in the first movie too. Pretty much any scene where he was without the suit he had a drink in his hand. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I don't think that they will ever go all the way with that Demon in the Bottle storyline because it would be like taking the story from the Superman movie when was affected by Red K and was in the bar fighting himself??? It worked in the comic book cause Bob Layton did such a fantastic job leading the story down that course cause at the time Tony Stark had slept with Janet(the Wasp)Van Dyne behind Hank Pym's back and left him destroyed. Personally, I have wait most of my life to see these films being made because my first love is comic books. I love this movie especially seeing War Machine come to life but absolutely loved the Black Widow which no one ever calls her that in the movie. Cannot wait for Thor since they have released a teaser photo of Chris Hemsworth in his Thor garb. Looking like the current comic costume.

Cheedle was the only bad bit In it for me...he's the same in everything.
I line Sam Jackson although I do get the impression they just said "Play Jules from Pulp Fiction...but put this eye patch on). The continuity is odd in the Marvel Universe though... from the cameos Iron Man 1 and 2 must come before Thor which comes before The Incredible Hulk, which comes before Captain America...but it can't do because of the Avengets Initiative [Edited 5/11/10 3:00am]

So um...Terence got fired because he wanted too much money? What the hell are they paying Cheadle? ARen't both of these guys Oscar nominees? I know Terence got top billing in the first Iron Man but unless he was asking for some outrageous fortune, there was no good reason not to bring him back.
like Don, don't get me wrong but the on screen chemistry between Downey and Howard was much stronger IMO - I believed they could be real friends. Also, Terence is better looking. Ok I think I figured this out. It's about looks. Terence's good looks were somehow threatening.

Ok I think I figured this out. It's about looks. Terence's good looks were somehow threatening. Terence asked for money upfront BEFORE being cast in the first Iron Man film. So right after that film became a success, the producers knew that they needed a bigger budget for the sequel. Robert was going to be pay THE most money of all of the cast members, without question because he is the title character. But the producers didn't want to be bother with having to pay Terence more money upfront like the first time. So they (in a controversial move at the time) option not to have him back and just hired Don instead for an affordable price.

The War Machine character can easily have his own spin-off film OR TV series if the producers wanted to go that route. I bet Terrence knew this potential sooner than everyone else. 2. Without necessary whining "borderline racism", if Terrence Howard was Brad Pitt, George Clooney, or Tom Cruise requesting money upfront before accepting a supporting actor role, do you really think the producers would have option not to have him in a sequel?!? Think about it.

So I just got around to seeing this yesterday. I agree--meh, but not too meh.
But Gwyneth Paltrow sucks. She ruined the first movie, and she damn near does it again. She makes Lois Lane seem likable. I loved that they kept putting her up in those big heels that she couldn't walk in.

What I wasn't sure about was why Vanko alternated between an orator in the beginning and barely speakin a full English sentence for the rest of the movie.
Also is Justin Hammer supposed to be Phil Donahue and Steve Ballmer mashed up? MY COVER OF PRETTY WINGS

Also is Justin Hammer supposed to be Phil Donahue and Steve Ballmer mashed up? My question was why was it always snowing in Moscow when they made it clear that six months had passed? I thought Sam Rockwell was channeling Casey Kasem for his Justin Hammer voice. He was the best thing about the movie!
