I love me some Kate Winslet, but she needs to be slapped if she thinks she can fill Joan Crawford's shoulder pads.

Although funny, THe Birdcage is a ripoff of the much better French original La Cage aux Folles. The Birdcage is also riddled with stereotypes. Speaking of remakes, Barbra Streisands a Star is born was a remake of the Judy Garland version from 1954, which was a remake of the 1937 version that was a remake of a 1918 movie with Theda Bara I think. No, it was actually a remake of the 1932 film What Price Hollywood with Constance Bennett. Correct, my mistake. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Welcome to this thread, you can say something and watch Ernest demolish you, what fun and joy.
And Ernest, To Wong Foo sucked bigtime, it was probably a large gross as Americans in general have poor taste, Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze in drag come on, John L was at least convincing as Chichi. Give me anything local, British, Australian or even Canadian over American crap any day. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Not bitter, are you Huggie? And Ernest, To Wong Foo sucked bigtime, it was probably a large gross as Americans in general have poor taste,
I take offense (not offence), Sir. Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze in drag come on, John L was at least convincing as Chichi. Give me anything local, British,
British?? f'in British?? Really?? Most British "comedy" is about as funny as a tumor (very few exceptions). Australian or even Canadian over American crap any day.
Then don't watch it. Of the last 10 movies you've seen, how many have been "American"? Five or more, I would bet.

Give me anything local, British, Australian or even Canadian over American crap any day. Wow, and they say Americans are uptight. First of all, I never demolished your opinion, but thanks for the compliment (although it also speaks volumes to an apparent lack of conversational and debate skills from your self-appointed title of my adversary). You said Wong Foo was a ripoff of Priscilla. I stated, truthfully and fact-based, that it was not. Both movies were obviously in production at the same time, and in quite different places. They were released only 13 months apart. Movies aren't conceived, organized, developed, approved, filmed, edited, and tweaked for released all in 13 months. Not 99.9999% of them. I really don't care if you like or hated Wong Foo or any other movie. They're not my movies, and I don't have a vested interest in them. If you hate American crap so much, why are you even here then? Why are you bitching? Do you just need a reason to bitch in general and American pop culture seems like as good of a reason as any? I'll also direct your sensibilities, as limited as they seem to be, to the fact that I pulled most of my reply to your assumptions from another source, namely (in this case) Wikipedia. The dates are factual, as is the note about The Birdcage (you know, one of those pesky American rip offs, as you call it). It's cute that you try to say a very popular LGBT film is "crap", and that since it beat out your precious Priscilla, that of course all American's taste and products are crap too. It's that kind of attitude that gets countries into wars, ethnic cleansing, and general malaise. A LOT more Americans supported Wong Foo than Priscilla anyway. Wong Foo grossed over $47,000,000. The queen of the desert did less than 1/4 of that, rounding out at about $11,000,000. Perhaps the Brits and Aussies didn't like Priscilla as much as you'd like to think.

"An Affair to Remember" bad, bad, bad Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Clash of the Titans The Omen Halloween..... somebody needs to be sued Fame Agree with the above list. Also with ernestsewell's list-except the wiz. Although the Wizard of Oz is better, I like the R&B vibe of the Wiz. As for the charlie and the chocolate factory remake-I did not like Mr depps choices for his character.I also think the umpa lumpa's where not scary enough, like in the first film. That's probably because of the studio trying to make it family friendly. As for why Burton goes dark-that's him and I thank him for that. I also agree that planet of the apes was not a good remake. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Hmmm, never heard of these. I've been watching more old movies lately. It's amazing to see the original movie from the 30's or 40's or 50's, and then remember the horrid remake 30 years later.

The only reason to watch Charade is not for the lame plot or the limp dialogue but for the chance to see two pros together--Grant and Hepburn--but I wish they could have been together in a better movie vehicle. Both of them individually had much better films!

The re-make with Brandy is loud, lame, and ludicrous in comparison to my childhood favorite Cinderella with Leslie Ann Warren! You just brought back a lot of memories...
