I like the move also but prefer the original. giggle

lol

Those aren't the only reasons. I love the music, the different interpretation of the story...

In regards to the film with Judy Garland. I love it too, but I actually prefer the book over the movie

I like The Wiz's interpretation also. LOL. I also like Richard Pryor. lol

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, why does Tim Burton have to put some kind of dark feel to all of his films? neutral

You must have never read the book. It's even been said that the author hated the original with Gene Wilder, but I thought Wilders version was nicer and sillier.

I didn't like it, I wasn't all the crazy about the book. Gene Wider's version was an improvement; then I'm not crazy about Johnny Depp either maybe that was it, I don't know, it sucked. lol

It's just his film making style. Just how every Joel Schumacher film is some boy fantasy for him. Or how every James Cameron movie is the best thing he's ever done in the entire universe.

Good remakes:

The Fly (1986)
Scarface (1983)

Those two are the only good remakes (in fact, better than the originals) that I've ever seen...

Scarface is one of the greatest films of all time. I guess Ill never understand why The Remakes of Halloween get a bad rep,I went to the theatre to see both and have them on DVD.Look at how bad parts 3,5,6,and Ressurection are.

I actually liked the remake with Tony Todd. The Dawn of the Dead remake was pretty good imo too. I enjoy zombie films, but for the most part the science is simple enough to not screw up a remake. lol I wish they come out with a Left 4 Dead movie. That's one video game movie I'd go see.

That wasn't a remake. I believe it was the first film version.

Three film adaptations have been made. The first was J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (1978), by animator Ralph Bakshi, the first part of what was originally intended to be a two-part adaptation of the story; it covers The Fellowship of the Ring and part of The Two Towers.

The second, The Return of the King (1980), was an animated television special by Rankin-Bass, who had produced a similar version of The Hobbit (1977).

The third was director Peter Jackson's live action The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, produced by New Line Cinema and released in three installments as The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).

You caught it before I did. Also, wasn't the original Casino Royale a comedy? Certainly the "remake" was not. I guess it could be considered a remake, even though I think their similarity may be in the title of the movie only.

There was a 1950's TV adaptation, but the 1967 film was meant to be, and considered, satirical and a comedy. The film had the first ever James Bond in film, David Niven.

I thought Dr. No from 1962 had the first ever James Bond in film (Sean Connery)?

In 1967, he appeared as one of seven incarnations of "007" in the James Bond spoof Casino Royale. In fact, Niven had been Bond creator Ian Fleming's first choice to play Bond in Dr. No. Casino Royale co-producer Charles K. Feldman said later that Fleming had written the book with Niven in mind, and therefore had sent a copy to Niven.

It was rather "unofficial" that he was a Bond guy.

Kinda like this...

Oh no!

In general, I hate it when Hollywood tries to remake film noire movies.. Sometiems a movie works because it's in black and white..with all the shadows, lighting..

I think this is why the remake of Psycho doesn't work in a way because the black and white.. the way Hitchcock used lighting IS part of the film..

The Stepford Wives

I usually love Tim Burton but....Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (not nearly as dark as it could have been, the new music was awful as well) & Planet of the Apes (completely unnecessary)

Right off the top...

The Day The Earth Stood Still
Planet of the Apes

One of the BEST remakes:

Cape Fear (Scorsese)

As incredible as the original was with Robert Mitchum, Scorsese's take, combined with DeNiro's interpretation made this film stand on its own. Interestingly enough, Scorsese decided 2 use the original soundtrack!
