You're only falloff because in your heart you know it's true. At least be like Uptowny and admit you just don't like the guy as a person. shrug Nothing wrong with that. There have been and still are puh-lenty of high-profile athletes I can't stand, and their performance has NOTHING to do with it. lol

I'm just sick of all the man-love for this douchebag. Already he's getting the Brett Favre treatment from fans and the media. His jersey is already flying off the shelves and he's going to be next Ryan Leaf.

Why do y'all keep referring to him as a douche(bag)??? What about him makes him a douche??? I have my own preconceived notion as to what a "douche" is, and this guy ain't it.

And I can appreciate that, dude. really. It's when people keep dowing him based on his ability that I go confuse Like, really? Yet a lot--not all--of these same people hype up a lot of average NFL quarterbacks to be better than they actually are.

Heard a NFL corner say the following: "Tebow's delivery tips off where he is throwing the ball and his passes take 2 long 2 get 2 the receiver. DB's in the NFL would LOVE playing against this guy".

I don't really follow football, so I'd like to ask this;

Would he be so newsworthy if he wasn't professing his virginity?

Yes because Tebow is incapable of getting better. All other athletes must train and practice on their techniques, as well as actually study their opponents. But Tebow's brain doesn't work that way. He's learned all that he can learn for the rest of his life.

lol

I personally don't think he's a douche...but I love to make fun of him...that's mainly the UGA fan in me...
that being said, I hope the guy does well...as an athlete, he impresses the hell outta me...the thing I like to hear is how he's gonna get man-handled...I'm sure he will...he's a target...but motherfuckers in the NFL get manhandled every game...he wont be the first...one thing for sure, Tebow isn't a pussy...the dude can take a lick...and he can dish 'em out...to think he's just gonna lie down with the first big NFL hit is ridiculous...

U can't change the fundamental play that u play the game. I've rarely seen that done. U can tweak certain things, but u can't change your game completely. It will be interesting watching this experiment.

I've only heard him profess his virginity once, in 2009, when asked directly about it...he's not the Britney Spears of football, telling everybody, every chance he gets, that he's a virgin...
his faith, on the other hand, he wears on his sleeve...
the hype with Tebow began before he was ever recruited to Florida...and it had shit to do with his image, the fucker could play ball....shrug

I kinda agree, Gray...especially in terms of a quaterback...and it's gonna be very interesting to see if he can make adjustments or not...

I disagree with the corner that said his delivery tips off where he's throwing the ball, that's some straight bullshit....but do agree that his delivery takes too long by NFL standards...

and can I add, I fucking love conversations like this on the org...we dont have enough of them...we need a goddam sports forum...

It's rare but it is possible. I already mentioned how Steve McNair was a late bloomer as an NFL tyoe of QB. He had to change his techniques when the needs of the coaching scheme changed. And he won a co-MVP award in the process. shrug Before that nobody gave him credit as a QB that could effectively throw the ball in the NFL, even though his stats in college were off the charts. Still, McNair was collectively embraced by the media. Tebow is being thrown to the wolves and I'm having a hard time understanding why.

I think Tebow will eventually become a great NFL QB. I think it may take him a season or two to fully mature into one, but he will get there. I think he just has too much talent to not make it. I watched him all four years through the SEC (the toughest conference, regardless of what you say, dammit), and it was a RARE occurrence that he wasn't kickin' ass and takin' names and generally picking apart any defense he faced. So, some of you go ahead and call him a douche, but the MFer can play.

nod

especially by the same media that did their best to convince the nation that he was the greatest college player of all time...

I'm amazed by those that see no potential at all in him...like everything he's done up to this point was a fluke...

Not a fluke.....just a good college player.

saying he was 'just' a good college player is like saying Jordan was 'just' a decent nba star...(I'm not comparing tebow to mj lol)

every sport has elite stars...anybody denying that Tebow was one of the elite players in modern ncaa football is just kidding themselves...and I guess that's why I dont understand those that say he absolutely will not succeed in the nfl...to doubt or wonder about his chances makes sense but to say that he will never do this or never do that is ignorant...time will tell the outcome...he may rise up or fall flat...I don't get why some think he shouldn't even be given the chance ....shrug

I would have laughed out loud when he got told to shut the fuck up....lol

I still have no clue why Jacksonville didnt draft him...fill their stadium again-uncover all those unused seats, end local blackouts and sell jerseys like its going outta style...this was a clear indicator that Wayne Weaver doesnt give a shit about keeping the Jaguars in Jacksonville...

Many Giants fans I know have had these tickets for over a generation. They can't afford the outrageous prices, in some cases, $20k a pop. These folks sat in that stadium for years, supporting the Giants when they sucked. Now they're getting it up the ass.

Boomer Esiason said on his radio show all the NFL people he's spoken to think the Broncos were nuts for picking Tebow in the first. The coach is taking a huge gamble and putting his ass on the line.

Tebow. In the scheme of things who cares. lol
It seems a few here are getting offended because a lot
of people including myself don't think he was worthy of
being a first round pick or will be a elite qb at the
next level. Can he be a good qb? Quite possibly but i
don't think he'll ever be an elite qb at the next level and
the Steve McNair comparisons are ridiculous. Steve McNair was
a pro ready qb. He only had to make the transition from 1-AA
to the big leagues thus he had to sit and learn for a year
and a half behind Chris Chandler.

On paper maybe. lol I live in Nashville and know all to well about Steve's struggle to pass the ball deep. For years their bread and butter was a 5 yard chuck pass to Frank Wycheck and Eddie George pounding the ball. When Steve had to throw deeper than that he struggled and had to rely on his legs. It wasn't until the offense was out of options that Steve evolved into a passer and that was the 2002-2003 season.

Their inaugural season as the Titans Steve was booed the first game. Steve was injured and the backup QB took the helm for the next 3-4 games and the passing game opened up fierce. When it was time for Steve to return their was a QB controversy because openly stated they didn't want him to return. He did. The passing game went back to what it was, but the Titans found themselves in the Superbowl anyway. wink

But back to Tebow. shrug If Steve can evolve, and that sorry ass Vince Young can win Rookie of The Year, and a choker like Peyton Manning can receive so much praise for being .500 in the playoffs, then why not just let Tebow do what it is he does, which is find ways to win games.
