I lost my cousin yesterday to senseless violence. It appears that he was on his was home from work and walked right in to it... And of course the intended target was not harmed at all...

So now my family and i have to fly out to Charleston SC tomorrow night

A Charleston man was killed and another man was wounded after gunfire erupted on America Street early Tuesday.

Luther Tyrese Taylor, 29, of 9 America St., was pronounced dead at Medical University Hospital at 1:32 a.m. from a single gunshot wound to the head, authorities said.

Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111 or Charleston police at 577-7434.
Charleston police officers patrolling the area heard the gunshots about 1 a.m. A resident told police the shots were fired in the area of 9 America St., according to an incident report.

Officers found Taylor lying on his stomach near the driveway in front of 7 America St.

As officers investigated they learned that a second victim had been shot in the arm and leg, and was taken to the hospital in a sport utility vehicle that one officer saw speeding and running red lights.

Police later determined that Nathaniel Reid, 23, of North Charleston was shot in his right arm and right leg, according to the police report.

He was treated and later released from the hospital.

Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots.

Investigators found multiple rounds, including one in the front door of the 7 America St. house and another in the SUV.

The killing is the first of the year in Charleston.

murder is the absolute worst way to lose someone. the second anniversary of the murder of noel, my friend from way back was last week. it stills stings like hell, and probably always will.

From what i understand the young man that lives in 7 America was the target and my cousin Luther who lived in 9 America just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.. so hopefully he'll cooperate with the police and get this coward off the street.

My cousin died 2 days before my birthday from an injury she received in an assault from her boyfriend. It's 4 years now and it still hurts but you have to keep on keeping on. You can't let these stupid assholes win by losing the rest of your life to their depravity.
