When I was a teenager a friend of mine was telling me about the time when her brother was a child and for some reason or other was drinking some household bleach or similar poison.

I was so concerned that I asked her in shock "Did he die?"

The sad thing is, he was actually in the next room at the time and I'd known him for about a year.

A friend of mine made me almost wet myself laughing. We were waiting at the lifts and she saw the sign "In case of fire, do not use lifts". She said to me "We should use the stairs. I thought "oh fuck here we go" and asked her why. Batting her eyelids and in all seriousness, she told me we shouldn't use them in case there was a fire.

I humoured her and took the stairs
