Someone give those NBC execs a gold star! Leno, oh wait, is doing worse than Conan did...
Seven weeks into Jay Leno’s Tonight Show 2.0 and his ratings trend is eerily similar to Conan O’Brien’s. Jay’s beaten David Letterman’s Late Show all seven weeks, but so did Conan’s Tonight Show after seven weeks.
While Jay took over the Tonight Show for the second time on March 1, 2010 and Conan took the Tonight Show on June 1, 2009, once you line up their ratings by week number instead of by date the trends look awfully similar. Side note; Anyone see 30 Rock tackle the Leno/Conan saga this week? Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

It's funny you cherry picked which ratings to choose from. I heard on the radio that in overall viewers Leno is crushing what Conan did.

It's probably true that Leno is crushing the geriatric demo, but the chart really couldn't be more clear what it is comparing. That's why labels are nice to read.
Now, maybe NBC is betting on the huge ad revenue generated when the +60 demo becomes the most coveted, but until then under performing in the 18-49 demo is probably not what they were shooting for. I'm not longer in that chart's demographic. But I watch Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Family Guy during that time anyway. Hey, Stephen Colbert's coming to NASA in two weeks and I might get to meet him!
