I used one for a while. I signed up on one of the free sites, went on a ton of dates and didn't like anyone. Then when I was about to give up and delete my account, I met someone amazing. I've been with him for a few months now

Seriously, no I have never used a dating site but I know ppl who have. It is the same as meeting someone in a bar or at the grocery store. Some times it works out, some times it doesn't.

I shouldn't laugh my partner and I met on NZ dating, incredibly we had known of each other for years and had the same bad times with earlier partners and men we knew before we met each other, so its not all bad.

It's a friend's site. Was never really too happy about it, but I let it slide.

The worst date I ever had came from a dating site. That’s the guy who outed himself as a racist homophobe within about 20 minutes.

They’re fine for what they are, I just don’t personally like them. I’ve signed up a bunch of times and more often than not end up deleting my profile without ever responding to anyone.

There are definitely guys who are just looking for a quick hook-up, and that isn't my thing so I just don't go there. I have always met others however, who were interested in friendship or more. Even on the 'sex-heavy' sites such as Gaydar, I've met men who were really quite nice.

I guess we all put our best pictures up, don't we? It would be counter-intuitive not to. I was thinking the other day of putting up a crap picture on a site so that when I meet someone they would be pleasantly suprised!

In summary, I have found dating sites no different to real life. There are a lot of men who are playing a whole different game from me. There are a few who are on the same page. And there might be the odd one every now and then with whom something clicks.

The internet means that I don't have to go off to gay bars alone in the hope of meeting someone, which I would find a lot more 'creepy and weird'
