As long as we got DVDs of Delirious, Raw, Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2, Coming To America, Boomerang...

Do you guys like Golden Child and Harlem Nights? If I have seen them, it's been too long because I forget.

I saw Coming To America at a drive-in theatre! eek

I like the Golden Child boxed

Golden Child is a mess, but it definitely has quality Eddie moments.

My fave Eddie flick? Trading Places. That one never gets old imo.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be a tie between "Boomerang" and "Coming To America". That whole Soul Glo thing just had me rolling in CTA, plus all the characters in that movie were hilarious. Even had a fairy-tail ending, lol.

One of John Amos' best movies also. But WHO KNEW he had actually done a commercial for the REAL McDonald's back in the day?!? (...this had to have been pre "Good Times"). I remember this commercial too, lol (...damn sure showin' my age, lol)

Eddie was obviously in a different place during the "Delirious" & "Raw" years, and his lifestyle inspired a lot of his material. If he kept on that path all these years later, folks wouldn't appreciate his earlier works like they do now. People easily forget that he was doing that stuff night-after-night. I think he pushed the envelope as far as it could go, and every other comedian that came after him was following his trail. btw "Street cred" is bullshit lol.

In my mind, he's still in that different place. As long as he's doing stand up, he's untouchable. It's these Ice Cube inspired, playground, monkey bars, merry go round, kiddie movies that kills it for me and him. Although it was many years ago, His stand up routine in The Nutty Professor where he fucks up Cave Chapel proved it and moments where he immitates his brother proves he still has it.

Just because they were so-called "hits", does not mean that they were any good. Bowfinger was the best out of the one's that you mentioned

I loved Bowfinger, but wasn't that a Steve Martin film?

The humor was very much something Martin would do.

I was forced to watch Norbit because my nephews (7 and 8 years old at the time) loved the film. I couldn't believe that it was given a green light for filming. I mean, I was seriously shocked, it was just that bad.

Norbrit has to be one of the most hideous movies to ever hit a screen eek . I picked up a copy druing one of my marathon dvd shopping binges when it came out, and I couldn't even re-sell that thing on Amazon 3 days later. I think the prices for it started in the used marketplace at 10 euro cent. I basically ended up doing some funky art with the dvd and turning it into a coaster disbelief

I love Eddie still. He always cracks me up in interviews still. Movies not as much but there's always a funny moment.

I've never cared for Mr. Murphy as a comedian nor as an actor. shrug

Norbit was absolutely horrible and insulting to me as a Black women. If the motion picture industry threw Black men back to shufflin' and yes'um, Ms. Daisy roles there would be outrage. These tired charactertures (based on racist stereotypical images) of Black women played by Black actors, particularly comedians in drag have deeper meaning than anyone truly wishes to address or admit.

Though in Mr. Murphy case, maybe it's an excuse to "play dress up". wink

He was great in Dreamgirls. If he'd ever take his career seriously and stop doing bullshit like Norbit, he'd have a comeback easily.

Actually, I recognize her sitting next to him singing the hook near the end of the video when I took another look at it.

Yeah, it was on MGM tonight and I was still roaring at the party scene with the Sylvester track "Do you wanna funk" and he goes "GET THE FUCK OUT". And all the African shit at the end, Jerky beef time. Even my partner loves it.
