Mo'Nique's brother admits he molested her

What a chump.
Any thoughts on this? I loved 2 get him in a boxing rings 4 a few rounds.

CHICAGO — The brother of Oscar winner Mo'Nique said Monday on Oprah Winfrey's talk show that he molested the actress when they were children and he wants to apologize to her.

.Gerald Imes said on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that the molestation continued for a year or two, starting when he was 13 and Mo'Nique was 7 or 8.

"I abused and betrayed the trust of another sibling, my sister, my blood sister," Imes said. He apologized to the actress, saying "I'm sorry, Mo'Nique. I'm sorry."

He's a pedophile for sure, but at least he admitted it. Look at how many people deny deny deny to the grave. There's a situation relatively close to me where someone denied what they did, despite a mountain of evidence against them. But the damage is done w/ Mo'Nique in that he can never take it back.

I'm about to watch Oprah right now and see this MFer. I think he's partly coming out because his sister is quite famous right now. He'll make a few bucks on his abuse.

My girlfriend was molested by one of her brothers and it has had an effect on her for sure, why she has a hard time with trusting people, she has placed all of that energy into becoming an awesome musician!! She is my hero, because when I think about how hard life can be and want to give up, she is still up and kicking ass.

Speaking from experience, once you have been molested, you see the world in different colors. I commend your gf, Trini.

I find it equally disturbing that

1. The need to go on national TV to work this out.
2. Oprah gives them a platform to do it.

At what point will people simply admit their sins just to be on Oprah?
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

They aren't on TV, he is on TV. Mo'Nique refused to be part of the whole shindig. The fact remains that despite the TV time, people will look on him as what he is - an opportunist, and a pedophile.

I think that's 100% of why he is coming out now and "apologizing" to her. If she was just an average woman with an average job, he would've taken this to his grave. But because his sister is now an Oscar winning actress and comedienne, he now gets up the nerve to confess? rolleyes right. I can see why she wasn't a part of this show.

From the article:
Imes said he himself was molested and he was using drugs and alcohol at age 11.

He was 13 when he molested her, so still a child himself. I don't think this excuses anything, but I think it's important to take into consideration.

How heartbreaking for the entire family. sad

I don't think there is a molester alive who doesn't claim to have been molested themselves and it's almost always a sympathy plea. Fuck that. Either you want to inflict the same pain on another person as was inflicted upon you or you don't. And if you do...then fuck you and who cares about your pain. That's like a burglar saying he stole because somebody stole from him. People have to take responsiblity for the wrong that they do. This dude getting on TV trying to benefit from what he did to Mo'Nique's is atrocious. Make no mistake...he's going to benefit in some way, shape or form.

As I understand it, this is not the first time Mo'Nique's brother has addressed this. He has done it before, face-to-face and in private. Mo'Nique suggested in a previous interview that his apology, though, wasn't truly a confession of wrong-doings (i.e., it was more "I'm sorry that you were offended" than "I'm sorry for what I did") and that since her twins were born she's decidedly broken communication with him.

Maybe Mo'Nique's brother believes this is a way he can get her attention again and the best way he can finally come clean -- and now to an entire world that already has been made privy to the situation by Mo'Nique's doing. shrug

I don't discount speculation of opportunism, but that needn't be the only possible motive.

Script, what he did to her, infuriates me. Yet, she holds no malice against him. Me, I want BLOOD!! I want castration with a very dull knife. But, I know that God has a place for him...

some people are just not born with any ackrite and it's sad. disbelief

I'm glad Mo'Nique is doing positive things with her life.

I'm glad her brother went on Oprah and apologized. At least I would know to have the side eye on him around kids. I pray their parents got them therapy and prayer in their lives. I'm not going to judge him because I'm not perfect either, I do hope in my heart he has learned and received the help he needed and is truly a better, and repentant, person!

They were there, as well as the other brother. I thought you meant Mo'Nique and him hashing it out on Oprah's show. The brother's pastor was there too, but he never spoke.
