NFL: More Ugly Details in the Ben Roethlisberger Case
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It sounds like rape, doesn't it? But the girl doesn't want to press charges and the DA says he doesn't have enough forensic evidence to make a case.
Obviously Roethlisberger had sex with her either against her will, or in a public place, because the Steelers have been very clear that he did something wrong. Not a good deal. I wonder if this girl will file a civil suit? Or now be called in a witness in the civil suit already filed against Roethlisberger in another incident?

I'm pretty sure a civil suit is coming, along with a suspension from the Steelers. I've heard the Rooneys are PISSED. The Steelers are one of the NFL's flagship franchises. They can't have this shit.

He's an idiot.
That's no reason not to charge him, actually on the contrary we could do well to have him off the streets. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

The lead officer in this case(who first interviewed the alleged victim) has resigned. And I hear once the NFL has done their investigation, Ben will miss a few games.
I wonder what's the reaction in Steeler Nation - will they forgive and forget because he's the franchise QB?

I wonder what's the reaction in Steeler Nation - will they forgive and forget because he's the franchise QB? I just saw that. I wonder if he covered something up or had a hard on for Rothsleberger. Wonder if we'll ever know. I suppose odds are on a cover up though. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. Playing devil's advocate here , I don't see why Ben Roethlisberger should face any punishment at all. Yes, these allegations are ugly, but since the Atlanta PD didn't bring charges against him, and the accuser is refusing to press charges against him, what happened to his presumption of innocence? I mean, what if someone came to your job and accused you of dealing crack or crystal meth to second graders, and the cops investigate but clear you of any wrongdoing, does that mean that your employer has a right to suspend you without pay? Yes, the NFL had a conduct policy, but Ben wasn't doing anything people of other walks of life haven't done, and he isn't married to anyone unlike a certain superstar golf player, so why should he be subjected to any punishment if he hasn't committed any crime?

The NFL is a private organization. The comissioner can do whatever he wants if, after his investigation, he and the Steeler brass feel Ben broke the league rules of conduct. This is the second Ben's been accused of thug behavior(and I heard there was a third). He's the franchise QB for one of the NFL's flagship teams. He does anything to embarass the organization(charged or not), he's going to pay.

Maybe, but there are a lot of other private organizations which have unfairly punished or fired certain employees based on unfounded accusations to cover up that fact that these same employees were either Black, gay, female, or too old and that someone no longer wanted them in the company. I think the NFL needs to be careful about how they handle this, because they could soon find themselves in front of the EEOC or NLRB for unlawful discrimination. And another thing; what if an NFL player goes into a restaurant with a gun that he is licensed to carry? Yes, Plaxico Burress was dumb enough to shoot himself in New York City, where they have pretty stringent laws against carrying weapons in public, but in a lot of Southern and Western states, they specifically allow people to carry concealed weapons. Can the NFL take action against a player for carrying a weapon when it is his constitutionally protected right to do so?

Only if a player is dumb enough to stick it in his pants with the safety lock OFF(instead of keeping it safely holstered) and it accidentally goes off. Plaxico is damn lucky he didn't blow his balls off, or that the bullet didn't hit someone else.

Where I live it does. When I lived in Mass. I was told point blank by someone in the department of labor that without a union an employer can do almost anything they want Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

ben may have played his last game as a Steeler. The team mgmt is really ticked off about this on the heels of his other bone headed antics. Don't be surprised 2 see him traded.

This is what's perplexing to me. The steelers kicker Jeff Reed
has had more off the field incidents in which he was actually charged and he's not in the doghouse yet the qb hasn't actually been charged with anything except in the court of public opinion and he's getting a minimum 4 game suspension. I can understand a 2 game suspension. Something stinks to high hell here. I hope the NFLPA is looking at this real closely. Roger Goodell is opening up a whole new can of worms. The next time a player is arrested or charged for the simplest of things,Goodell better be ready. Don't laugh at my funk

Alchohol is what's messing this story up.
Girl was drunk so it's possible her memory is skewed. Ben will say it was consentual and the civil suit is just evidence that somebody has buyer's remorse so to speak and are after his money. one thing for sure...Ben aint going to prison.
