The suggestion that it is safer is made up and not based on ANY legitimate study.
This is going to sound mean and like I'm trying to provoke an argument, which could not be further from the truth....but Those statements are ignorant. So where is the link to a long t erm scientific study of its effectiveness of THC. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

So where is the link to a long t erm scientific study of its effectiveness of THC. We could begin with the ancient La Guardia report. Or would you rather something more current? I respect your opinions, but saying it doesn't help anyone and that it's safety is not based on scientific evidence is a less than strong point.

Rick James did a long term study and I believe what he ended up finding was that he was in love with mary jane, but that cocaine was a hell of a drug....
also in 5 more years give Snoop Dogg and Method Man a call.... [Edited 4/15/10 14:19pm]

exactly, drugs are drugs, and I trust weed more than just about any other drug, especially if eaten rather than smoked I do suspect it has side effects for anyone, especially kids, but with any drug you weigh the effect against the side effect & make your choice. My Legacy

I´m all for legalizing it and don´t find it dangerous at all but people under 20 should stay away from it or only use it two or three times a month. Moderation is key when it comes to MJ. I agree. It should be treated the same as alcohol in this country IMO. Is there any way to test for THC levels in your system as there is for alcohol? (of course the pot supporters will say "it doesn't impair your ability to drive" to who I will say "you need a better dealer because if you can drive after smoking up that is some weak stuff" "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

It also costs the most. I, for one, am a supporter...and agree that it impairs your ability to drive.

That is going to be difficult due to the way it's presence is detected. Finding a cut off point for impairment will be difficult also, as it's really hard to determine for such a broad base. I'm all for keeping drivers sober.

PunkMistress said: She describes the first time:
"We made the cookies with the marijuana olive oil, starting J off with half a small cookie, eaten after dinner. J normally goes to bed around 7:30 p.m.; by 6:30 he declared he was tired and conked out. We checked on him hourly. As we anxiously peeked in, half-expecting some red-eyed ogre from Reefer Madness to come leaping out at us, we saw instead that he was sleeping peacefully. Usually, his sleep is shallow and restless. J also woke up happy." I have not had a so-called "special needs" child but I have known those who have and were at their wits end, after running through all the legal medications that supposedly help. So far, medical science has not been able to "isolate in a pill" what it is that so helps people the way natural forms of marijuana can, in certain cases. While I would never advocate this for a child, I can understand why adults would use a natural herb to help when medical means and science fails.

We have a child with aspergers, and I well remember the schools telling us we needed to do something (including bluntly being told he should be on ritalin) It's not easy. Do not give in to this! Ritalin, as a drug, is far worse than any marijuana for a child IMO! Doctors told my sister to do this with my nephew and she refused. So did my cousin's wife when doctors told her that her son was too "hyper" and needed to be calmed down. There are many other ways to deal with this! Find a support group of other parents with the similar issue and talk to them before you give your child this medication!
