One of very few good American comedies, but i reckon South Park remains American satire king.

But, bloody hell you all need to get into British humour. It makes all this look childish.

For a new one, try The Thick Of It.....that's called actual genius satire. Or try Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle for the greatest satire television has seen since Jam.

Well, based on your arrogant recommendation, I'll be sure to miss it! smile

lol lol

Dave's one of my favorite comedians. The great thing about him is that you look past the jokes sometimes, you see he's speaking truth nod

There was one sketch from the "Lost Episodes" season where it's about men of color being haunted by their stereotypes like the devil on the shoulder thing in cartoons. It's funny but it has a message to it

Almost all great comedy is based on some painful aspect of reality.

No, it was an episode of Chappelle's Show that aired at the end of the 2nd season that showed sketches that haven't been seen before.

End of the second season. Pretty sure second season was on DVD though

Yeah, it is. I'm pretty sure that episode is on the DVD.

I can believe that he is still not at peace with his decision. Here he was about to make all this money, but he felt that all wouldn't have been right with his soul if he had taken it. I personally feel that he made the right decision. I'd rather him walk away while being on top than to sell his soul to the devil and then let the show go down under "somebody else's" control other than his own.

I agree with you, but it would probably haunt me, as well.

I saw Dave doing standup a few weeks ago at a local nightclub that is owned by one of his former tour managers. There were about seventy five people in the audience.

It's the second time I've seen him do standup at a club. The first time was about a year after he left the show. He was awesome.

This time, he was great, for about the first two and half hours. After that, he started rambling. He couldn't stop talking about walking away from the $50 million contract Comedy Central offered him.

He clearly felt that he had to walk away in order to maintain his edge and credibility, but at the same time he seems haunted by it, like he can't make up his mind whether or not he did the right thing. Anyway, he talked about it A LOT.

I ended up leaving, before his show ended, at 4:30 in the morning, after he had been on stage for about five hours.

That's kind of sad.

Yeah, but damn...2 1/2 hours is a long time to talk, much less 5. shrug lol

For real. His sets are mostly about him talking to his audience and (brilliantly) riffing on whatever they say. There were a lot of people that wanted to talk that night. lol

I kinda thought he was at peace with the decision and admired him for his integrity.

Goes to show, though, we never really know these public figures onto whom we sometimes project so much.
It's what you make it.

He did seem like he would do it again, if he had the chance. But I also felt like it weighed on him quite a bit.

I totally admire him for walking away. Not many people could do that.

I think if Dave ever got an opportunity to do something, he'll try to do it without compromising his integrity. Show business is a bitch.

OMG, this Dave Chappelle "Greatest Misses" show is fucking HYSTERICAL.

The Gay KKK, wearing pink robes and hoods, politely and sweetly suggesting to their black neighbors, "so...have you considered going back to Africa?"

What the fuck??

falloff

Only Dave Chappelle, Richard Pryor (for whom Mooney of course wrote material), or Paul Mooney would pull some shit like this.

So-called "offensive" comics and shows like Carlos Mencia and Family Guy WISH they could do racial/social comedy with a fraction of the brilliance of this shit. And these are his reject skits I'm watching!

Gay boxers calling each other "fatass" at the weigh-in...this shit is so fucking offensive.

falloff

"Yo momma had one big titty and one little titty. They called the bitch Biggie Smalls!"

falloff!!!!

I don't find it offensive at all. He's making fun of the ridiculousness of the stereotypes around gay people.

There's a nuanced difference IMO between what he's doing now and what Eddie Murphy did withe AIDs jokes in the 80's.

Dave is a genius. I remember when the Monica Lewinski thing blew up and he was talking about fame. (this is before his show), and he said, "I'm famous but the President is ((( FAMOUS )))" If somebody can suck your dick and then THEY'RE famous,... falloff!!! The entire skit was hysterical. lol

Yes! "Suck my dick, I'll make you famous!"

About Mencia, Comedy Cenrtal giving him a show (which was a rip off of Dave's show) was a fail, especially since he isn't a tenth as funny as Dave

a waste of airtime lol

nod right! I'd rather him walk away at that point than to have let things go on where the show would have probably ended up watered down and he would have resulted to either drugs or alcohol to cope.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Chappelle is so damn funny, I have all his stuff on DVD, but if it is on Comedy Central, I sit and watch it even with the commercials.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
