I think, from a scientific standpoint, everybody dreams...you just don't remember.

I had an excellent one a few nights ago - in the dream it was as if my real life didn't exist and I was me in some alternative life, just starting uni, met new people on my first day, met a girl, made friends etc etc.

I usually dream but, at some level, it's alway me and has relation to my real life even if it's just a deep akniwledgment that this is odd...but in this dream I had none of that. I woke up thinking how different it was...and the fun bit was realising that, intact, there had been subtle clues I gad over looked.

At one point I was on a bus a picked up a coat that wasn't mine, I put it down and carried on talking. I realised when I woke up that it was my sons coat.

I went out for a meal with my 'girlfriend' in the dream...it was a resaraubt I had walked past that day with my wife.

One of the people I was talking to on my first day wad orange with make up...a discussion I had with somebody 3 days before.

Forgot the rest now butbthete were 5 or 6 clues I only got on 're watching' my dream

I've heard people say that we all dream every night whether we remember or not. Me I rarely remember my dreams. I have a few. No I don't keep a journal. The dream that bothers me most is the one I've had for years that I cannot remember I just wake up scared to death. Shaky and out of sorts.

I don't think I've ever really had a nightmare...I used to dream that I was in s cordfiekd and felt really claustraphobic with the corn so close to by face I could barely focus and my ears were ringing loudly like tinstus or that 'tone' we used get in the UK when tv closed fir the night.

Apart from that there are dreams that I wake up from and, for a second, need to calm myself that the affairs, deaths, illegal activities were just a dream.

The sensation I find most fascinating is dreaming/waking from a dream with the feeling you've dreamt it before but having no recollection of it...is it really that I've drwMtbut before or us your brain, dyringvthe dream, so clever at filling in the backstorybthst it gives the feelings of knowledge, experiences etc thstbtou would gave if you'd really been there before

Last night I dreamed I got into a new gallery. I was at the gallery for an event and they had this pet Koi. It was GIGANTIC (like the size of a dog) and it wasn't in a pond or water. It just swam around (didn't touch the ground, but stayed low) in the air. eek
I was frightened of it and actually woke up startled when it jumped up on me.

I haven't been rememebring them lately. I go through phases.

But overall, I'd say I have a very active dream life. My dreams are very vivid and I am also prone to lucid dreaming. If I've got the time, I'll often go back to sleep to rejoin an awesome dream.

I dream all the time and quickly forget them. Which is a good thing as they are always incredibly dull. For example, dreaming I'm queuing at the Post Office or shopping for food.....

sad

Do you dream a lot? I have no idea.

Do you often remember your dreams? Very rarely. sad Maybe a couple times a month at most.

have you ever kept a dream journal ( I know people who have done this). Nope. I might write down ones I particularly want to remember, but I haven't done that in ages.

If you feel like sharing tell me about one. From the beginning of 2008 through most of 2009 I'd often have horrific nightmares. They usually varied, but the only ones I can really remember involved my sister being killed in front of me, or someone who was close to me cutting me with various things and then just watching me bleed. confused I've FINALLY stopped having them, thank god.

I have dreams like that often, where there is some error in my records and I am a few credits short of graduation and I have to go back to high school.

90% of my dreams are things I try to avoid in my life.
Situations or people that I push to the back of my mind come up in my dreams.

The other 10 % is just a bunch of bull.

I saw "It's Complicated" the other night and then had a dream about Alec Baldwin lol

Actually, I do have a recurring dream in so much as I've had it about 6 or 7 times in the last year.

I'm back at university and it's my last day or close to it, all the lectures are finished and everybody is enjoying themselves....then I realise Ive completely forgotten to write my Geography dissertation and hand it in.

It's always a Geography project which is odd....I did my Masters in Biology with genetics.

I dream a lot! I the dreams that I remember are the dreams of weddings. I had very clear dreams of people I know that were happy and dressed in white and at the alter exchanging vows.

When the person turns around to show me their face they smile, sometimes its only the bride or the groom... but its always one person that is getting married.

Within a week the person I saw in my dream getting married dies.

RIP...
Javier, my cousin died of a drug overdose.
Alicia, she died @ 31 from a heart attack.
My Uncle, he died the very next day.
Joyce a family friend, died of breast cancer.
Her sister Adrian, cancer.
My next door neighbor's daughter... never knew her name but she died in a car accident two days after I dreamed of her.

I even had a few dreams of people running away or being dragged to the alter, these people I would soon find out have been given diagnoses of cancer, or diabetes.

I dreamt twice of my best friend's mom walking up the isle to the alter, and of a few friends and a cousin.

Now, when I dream of someone dying, they get married or announce a pregnancy or an engagement.

So now when I have happy dreams of people getting married wearing white, I jolt myself out of my dreams in fear.
The last dream I jolted myself out of was my dear friend's mom, she passed shortly after. cry rose

I hate this, one day I fear that I will dream of myself wearing white, getting married.

sad

Crumbs!!!!

It's lightly spooky but I suppose in a way, if there's any u derlying meaning to it, perhaps they are letting you know that the people have had a good life...weddings are meant to be happiest days. To be honest it's a common theme - biths/deaths in dreams = sickness and death in real world.

The fact that you've already said hat it scares you explains probably why you dream it

They are weird things tho...I've dreamt 3 or 4 times that long lost friends have made contact to say they are emegrating...and the next day they reall have got in contact - some have stated in touch others have said hi and buggered off again.

Another thing I've just realised is that I often dream about the same friend from infant school who I haven't seen for around 25 years.... It's so random that it's always him in various guises. Last night he was stealing my wife and taking her to the playoff final at Wembley stadium, we could both run and jump incredibly fast and far

I dream, every night. And I often remember them.

I often have bad dreams, or unsettling dreams. Ican't remember them but I wake up feeling worried or scared. Sort of nervous dreams.

I also have a dream journal that I keep next to my bed. It took a while to get into the habit, but I find if I write my dream the moment I wake up I can remember quite a lot of it. Even after one or two minutes it fades.

I have a recurring dream set in the cold war. Its a dream I've had ever since I was young. Im some sort of secret agent, and I sneak into a concrete building, where I get caught by russians. Then I find my partner in the car outside has betrayed me. Thats the strongest part of the dream, the betrial scene. I hate this dream, always wake up scared and upset, but like I say Ive been haveing it for 20 years now.

The funniest/ most annoying are reality changing dreams...when you wake up and you can't shake the fact you ate annoyed at someone for something they did in the dream. Or you fancy someone you would never dream of liking usually.

An oldie but goodie...

I'm sitting in a HUGE overstuffed recliner in my living room watching TV. The floor is covered in slippery, slimey eels... I mean it's wall-to-wall eel carpeting... As I sit, I reach down and grab a huge handful of the squirmy bastards and proceed to stuff them in the bowl of my water-pipe/hookah/bong... I light them up and take looong deep puffs and blow oddly shaped smoke rings ala Alice in Wonderland...

I didn't become afraid until I saw the connection.... it'd be like
Them: "Did you hear that so and so passed away last night?"
Me: "Really? I had a dream about that person... hmm, weird!"

But you are so right, my mom told me just what you said. Its really eerie and it makes me wonder of the spiritual connection we all have with one another, even if its just in passing.

I have lots of other recurring dreams also, maybe I should keep a journal as well. nod

I used to dream lyrics when I was in a band and wake up and write them down...I felt like Prince and, to be honest, they were shit enough to be on par with some of his later stuff

It used to happen almost every night for about 3 months. I met up with one if my friends who was in the band about 10 years later and he plonked this folder on the desk full of lyrics I had written fir him to practice....I'd thoughtbid written about 7 or 8 but there were easily 50 full songs and a few bits and pieces.

THAT was freaky.

I love dreams and this whole thread is ace as it keeps jogging my memory

I dream nearly every night, I remember nearly all of my dreams and I have learned to participate in them, so that I realise it's a dream and I do whatever the fuck I want.

I have never kept a dream journal.

I have no idea what your dream could mean; I'd have to know a lot more about you and your past to tell. It's always best to think about it on your own!

see I have such bad luck in real life that I realise it's a dream, try to do something and it doesn't work...like trying to flu and I just end up jumping around instead of taking off

my dreams are very important. i'm very much influenced by surrealism. but rather than following the normal standards andre breton..i'm more of a jean cocteau person anyways.

i like writing down my dreams, and then using them later in stories, or collages..dreams are really neat things.

nightmares are bad..thought.
