Thug Beats Elderly Man Back To 1940s

Mayer Behmoiras, 81, was beaten so badly outside of his Astoria apartment on April 5 that he sometimes thinks he is back working at Macy's in 1947.

Police are searching for the person who beat a Queens grandfather so badly, it sent him back more than 60 years in his own mind. He was attacked at home and left to die in a pool of his own blood on April 5.

On Tuesday night the NYPD asked for the public help's in catching the attacker.

Mayer Behmoiras may never be the same. A ponytailed suspect seen on surveillance video robbed and beat the 81-year old, striking him on the head. The elderly man put up a fight but had so much blood on his brain, his family said at times he thinks he's back in the 1940s.

"He took away our life," said Frances Behmoiras said.

"I think there's a special place in hell for people who prey on elderly and sick people," added daughter-in-law Caryl Behmoiras.

Back on the first Monday in April, Mayer Behmoiras was coming home after a night of playing bingo. He walked in the front door of his apartment building on 47th and Broadway in Astoria, allowing a man to come in behind him. Little did he know that man was about to attack him.

"All of a sudden, I heard a horrible thump. I opened the door and he was laying there by the elevator in a pool of blood," Frances said.

The attacker fled, taking the man's keys and stealing the victim's car. The victim doesn't remember any of it, but he does know how he feels about such a cowardly act.

"I think it's ridiculous. I think it's stupid," Mayer said.

He and his family are hoping someone will come forward to help catch the suspect.

"If you think you know the guy, go down to the police station and look at some files," Mayer said.

His family had choice words for the attacker, which they refrained from saying on television, but his wife of 40 years did tell CBS 2 HD: "I want somebody to hit him over the head, too."

The attacker drove off in the victim's car, a 2001 Grey Hyundai Elantra. The license plate number is AEM 6734. Police are looking for any clues to stop the robber from striking again.

They say it because it happens, especially at Rikers. They hate those that come in there and brag about assulting an elderly person or how they raped a little girl. For some reason, there are those inmates that have a heart.

I don't get the whole wishing harm/jail rape on people who are accused of beating/raping others. Why is violence against one (type of) person okay but not okay against others?

(I notice this reaction A LOT on the Org, and it really puzzles me.)

Because lowlife thugs deserve the same punishment they inflict on others.

So, what kind of punishment would you suggest?

Whatever punishment is deemed legal and appropriate by the court system, if he is found guilty. I just don't get the enthusiastic posts that seems to relish in the idea of another person getting the shit beat out of them. An eye for an eye makes everyone blind, two wrongs don't make a right, and all that. I'm non-violent that way. shrug

Please don't misinterpret that to mean I'm on the alleged criminal's side or whatever; I just don't understand how people can abhor violence against children, the elderly, animals, etc. but then in the same breath wish that very same violence on someone else.

Look, the punishment should fit the crime. Jails are not meant in any way to rehabilitate criminals, they do more harm than good. I am not a violent person by any means, but, disability or not, if someone were to harm my mom or my girlfriend, I would do like they used to do in the old west. They would get a posse together, go after them and then hang them. If you are brave enough to do something as low as that, you are lucky that all you get, is an ass kicking!

Preach that shit!!!!

You make a decision to be a thug, then you suffer the(hopefully violent) consequences. I hope this P.O.S. gets beaten to a bloody pulp in the joint - that's right, I said it.

Look, you have too many low lifes out here, just doing dumb shit. Just the other day, here in NY, these teenagers,(two girls and two boys), were going around beating up elderly Asian woman, for fun. This went on for a week, before their parents turned them in. There are those who say, "They are just babies"....Babies my ass...They need a good ole fashion ass-kicking.

Their idiot parents should have given them an ass-kicking a long time ago.

So maybe we should beat them up! woot!

And the next time the dog shits on the carpet, beat its ass too! woot!

Because violence is always the answer. nod

No. As I said before, I am not a violent person. The last thing that I want to do is inflict pain on another. But, what these people that I mentioned did, was just dumb. In my book, if you are going to do something as dumb, stupid and as low as that, you need to get your ass beat; and parents as well as guardians need to take some responsibility for they actions of their spawn.

So then how would you be any different than the "low lifes doing dumb shit"? Should we then hope that you get your ass kicked and beat to a pulp in prison because you beat someone up? Or is it okay for you to use violence, but not for someone else? I don't see how it can be both ways -- either its wrong to beat the shit out of someone (regardles of who they are) or it's not.

Again, no excuse for such behaviour. Yes, send him to prison for many, many years. But no stupid psychocoligal treatment or hippie work-shop shit. Slap his coward ass every morning of every day and slap his head twice on Sundays. I'd beat this motherfucker myself if given the choice. No mercy for dickheads like that.

There is a big difference between violence and disipline. To lash out or harm somebody for no reason, like what these people did, is an act of violence. To administer punishment for an act of wrong doing, is disipline. Now, mind you, disipline does not have to be in the form or of doing harm to another. It is purely meant to show that there are consequences to one's action's. If you take one's life or do harm to another just for the joy of it, then you yourself, have no regard or appreciatation for the live itself. Therefor, in my book, you should suffer the same punishment that you inflicted on that person that meant you no harm.
