Minus the 'on display' machines at retail outlets, that's a huge number, especially for a niche product in it's first week of sales. I thought this thing was going to be a sales dud honestly, because like I mentioned above, I'm still trying to figure out what most folks would use it for . But the sales are real and nowhere near as dismal as Sony mp3 products. anyways.....I'm sure those sales are to "it" people that just have to have them. It's not going to fail like the Sony mp3 products do.

Someone should be taking notes.
Apple puts out an overpriced, overhyped piece of shit and moves half a million based on their track record of mostly satisfied customers. If this had simply been their next in a series of rip-offs, things may have gone differently. I still think it's a rip-off for many reasons, but I'm not Apple's core. (WORDPLAY)! Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

There's simply no competing with cellphones---they are the supreme devices in the market, and for that, Apple still isn't top dog I believe. I could be wrong, but I think there's an offering out there that still dominates the market?

Are you against video? I can see why you wouldn't watch it on an iPod Touch, but it's glorious on an iPad. Anyway, I would definitely recommend an iPad over the Touch for the things you mentioned. Seriously though, you should definitely go to an Apple Store or Best Buy and try it out. It's hard to convey just how well it works unless you experience it for yourself. It's not that I'm against video---it's just that I would never use that feature. I don't like to watch T.V. as it is, and never watch it when I'm travelling. I love to listen to podcasts and to audiobooks, but I lose patience with having to watch a screen for long periods of time....this is why a rerelease of Avatar with extra footage sounds absolutely nightmarish to me. I do, however, love to use my macbook as a travel computer--it's simply no fuse, and great to carry with me. So the idea of using an iPad as a travel computer is quite compelling, and I've hard about how quick and responsive the interface is (though I'm hearing mixed reviews about the Internet browsing). I would actually love to use it as a school device to keep track of grades and attendance of students, etc. in real time.... but I'm just not sold yet. I would probably wait for second gen, hoping that Apple adds multi-app processing and a front-end camera on it. I've all but given up on Flash support.

Some early adopters are already turning on it.
A low-visibility screen
The iPad's LED display is great for reading in low light situations, says Robert Strohmeyer in BusinessWeek. But the touch screen is so reflective it "kicks up a vicious glare in a well-lit room and practically doubles as a mirror in full sunlight." Worse still, the iPad's light sensor "doesn't seem to work at all" — the brightness didn't change when moving from "bright sunlight to a darkened room." Clearly, "Apple has some patching to do here." Where's my WiFi? Apple forums and its official support site are "jam packed with user compaints" about the iPad's weak WiFi signal, says Alan Ng in Product Reviews. The "positioning of the antenna" seems to be the problem — it's located behind the Apple logo, which is not the "ideal position for the best signal." As it is a hardware issue, this could be a "huge problem" — possibly even triggering Apple's first-ever recall. Type? Who needs to type? "It's pretty clear that typing is a secondary function for the iPad," reports Brian Lam in Gizmodo. When the iPad is in "landscape mode," the keyboard is difficult to touch type on without placing it on a "slight angle" — not easy without a kickstand. In "portrait mode," the iPad is too heavy to keep typing up for long. Of course, you can always buy a bluetooth keyboard for $69. App Store inflation iPad applications are more expensive than their iPhone counterparts, notes Shane Richmond in the Daily Telegraph. Games in particular are far more costly. The iPad version of "Flight Control," last year's "smash-hit casual game" for the iPhone, costs 404 percent more on the larger device. The price increase robs these apps of the "spontaneous appeal of their iPhone cousins." Recharging and syncing woes Using a USB connection to charge the iPad's battery is a time-consuming affair, says Brennon Slattery in PC World, requiring several hours. Also, too bad for you if you're a Windows user — the iPad won't charge at all from the USB port of a PC (you'll have to use the external recharger that comes with the device instead). Worse yet, synchronizing your iPad with data on your Mac is "ridiculously sluggish." Some have claimed it takes "four or more hours" to sync. "This begs the question: What's the point in buying a tablet that won't let you play with it?" Handle with care! One iPad purchaser in Pittsburgh decided the best thing to do with his $500 device was smash it to pieces. The resulting YouTube video shows that the device is alarmingly fragile, notes iPad Insider. Not only is the aluminium backing "fairly thin," but when the iPad was dropped on a concrete sidewalk, the screen cracked right away. Our advice? "Don’t drop your iPad" — or if you're clumsy, "get some sort of protection for it." The youtube video is just too douchey to reproduce here. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

But there's going to be reports like that obviously. There was hoopla about Apple's stock plummeting when the iPad was announced. So far Apple is going strong, and now probably looks to dominate the Tablet market in it's first week. I'll wait for the 2.0 release if I decide there's a reason to buy it at all. Apple products kick ass.

Apple's stock just hit an all time high, aided by the sale of the iPad.
It's been so successful, they've had to delay exporting the product overseas until May when stocks are replenished. This looks like a good week for several companies too such as JPMorgan & Chase, and Intel, both seeing the strongest gains in years (Intel seeing the strongest gain in 40 years). Maybe the recovery is starting?

The battery life of the Iphone and Ipod Touch dwarfs that of most PDAs, of which these products easily match in features. I'm surprised PDAs are still ticking at this point with Apple and Android products on the market now.
