If they can't get that pitching straightened out after Johann, it's going to be a looooong season. And it'll cost Omar and Manuel their jobs.

No, not when the team had so many injuries. Last season was an aberration. Can't put that on the manager or GM. And I don't even think Omar has full control on player moves. The Wilpons are pulling his strings.

The injuries came AFTER they renewed that fool's contract.
The training staff should have been "looked at", though.

Pitching will be the problem for the Mets this year.

It'll be even worse for my Dodgers...

C'mere hug

I guess the new Yankee Stadium is... I won't be going there.
I never got to Citifield last year- I'm going on July 10th. Can't wait to see the Hall of Fame and the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. biggrin

my old man, who is as a big a Yankee fan as me, went to both of them last year and said he enjoyed Citi more than the new Yankee stadium. thumbs up!

Reyes is supposed to come back on Saturday.
Yesterday he played in Port St. Lucie and went 0-3.

Hopefully he'll stay healthy this year.

Mets KNEW they needed more pitching, but didn't make ny moves to improve the staff. That's on the Wilpons, not Omar. The word is the Wilpons lost a ton of loot to Madoff.

That's true...
But I still say that the Wilpons only give the final approval. If that fool Omar doesn't "go shopping" in the right places, what is there to approve?

The word is Omar did try, but ownership didn't want to go the extra mile.

Javier, maybe will suck it up. Hughes could be trouble...or he could be NY's trouble, we still have to see how that shakes out. You can maybe take it to CC this early in the season, but he's looking damn strong right out of the gate so far.

Gonzalez is your best bet in the series I think. Sheets is not looking too strong so far this season, and Braden is meat. giggle

The Bomber offense is going to rain this year, the more than decent pitching is such a welcome change from the revolving door that made up the 2000's for the Yankees.

But hey, you can always win the AL West, right? highfive

Don't underestimate Braden....he is 2 - 0 with a 2.70 ERA in 3 starts this year. He struck out 10 in his first start.

But at the same time, in four career games (one start) against the Yankees, Braden has allowed 14 hits and eight runs in just 9 1/3 career innings. He's 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA.

I know the Bosox don't like NY being in first place, but to willingly lie down and let Tampa Bay win four games in a row against them at home just so the Yanks would get knocked down to second place in the AL East is going too far. disbelief
