By your criteria, Magic Johnson does not belong in the hall. If you'll recall he quit the 92-93 season, then also quit after his brief coaching stint cause he lost too many games.

You also see that Kobe didn't win a Championship without Shaq until he had an All-Star caliber player like Pau Gasol.

Thing is, you're boiling a career down to 1 incident and you weren't there. To my knowledge neither Jackson nor Pippen dwelled on it and neither seemed sure what happened after the game.

I'm sure you can find Hall of Famers that have had bad nights and awkward moments. You want to deny Pippen based on one of those and that would require ignoring the mountain of stats that would support his induction.
