Earthquake In California

Ok so i have lived in Hollywood for five months now.

I Am going to the L.A Film School and well i am still not used to these earthquakes!

Luckily i was in Van Nuys when it struck with a friend & not Hollywood where the quake could have been felt.

But i keep hearing these rumors of ''THE BIG ONE'' i usually don't

this crap but it's coming up alot it seems a little over the top every time there is a quake big or small they act like the apocalypse is sure to come neutral

What's everyones opinions on this?

And what's best to do in a situation if it was a really nasty one? i have googled alot about safety but some of it i find out later is hogwash.
I Used to live in Texas & my best friend told me it's like Tornados in Texas there nothing to me but if he heard there was one coming he'd be scared shitless he say's that's what earthquakes are to Cali basically
