CHRIS ROCK CONTROVERSIAL SONG

They say it's only racist if it's not funny, so is the previously unreleased video for "Crackers," Chris Rock's white-bashing spoof of OutKast's "Hey Ya," a case of beats for the bigoted?

In what is sure to spark debate over the thin line between racism and comedy, Rock's version is called "Crackers," a not-so subtle reference to Caucasians. In the four minute clip, which Rock has insisted is strictly satire, the comedian is seen and heard performing lines including, "Crackers say it, 'Color doesn't matter,'," and " What's cooler than being white men? Nothing!" Andre 3000's original lyrics of "Shake it like a Polaroid picture," become, "Shake 'em like he called you a n-gger," in lieu of instructions to grab a white guy by the neck.

While the lyrics Rock spews can be seen as derogatory and unkind to a white person with even the most generous sense of humor, calling the song racist is a reach. That is, based on the definition of racism. Rock isn't claiming his blackness makes him superior. But he does feel juxtaposing serious racist issues of the past and present (slave rape, police brutality, oppression, etc.) with the carefree vibe of "Hey Ya" is the highest form of satire. Think Chappelle's Show.

"Crackers" was written by Rock and writers from the Chris Rock show, and produced by hip-hop production impresario Prince Paul, in 2004. No doubt the video's controversial content is part of the reason it was unreleased until now. So the question of the moment is, who is laughing?

WARNING: The video below is intended for adults and contains strong language not suitable for children or your boss at work. Headphones are a must.

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

I love Chris Rock, always have always will but if Chris was white and this song was called "Nigger" it wouldn't even be a question whether it's racist or not.

shrug My only problem with it is that Hey Ya is so old at this point, a parody of it seem really dated.
a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Yeah, um...
I couldn't see Weird Al Yankovich getting away with "N***AS".

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Chris Rock is fantastic.
i love this bit of stand up about when it's ok for a white person to say "nigger"

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
