By MARCUS WOHLSEN, Associated Press Writer Marcus Wohlsen, Associated Press Writer – 44 mins ago SAN FRANCISCO – A popular California outdoors writer was free on bail after authorities said Friday they found a large marijuana growing operation in his barn in the town of Weed. Deputies served a search warrant on 55-year-old Tom Stienstra's home last week and seized 60 plants and more than 11 pounds of processed marijuana, the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office said. Stienstra was arrested for investigation of possessing marijuana for sale and released March 26 on $75,000 bail. Poor Tom. They're just picking on him that's all. Everybody knows dude got a grass ranch. Hell lot's of folk grow the shit in their backyards. The problem is it's illegal most everywhere else and so there's still a profit to be made. If we just legalize it (not just for medical use) then we could tax it and help close up some of that deficit. Plus there are other uses besides getting high and weed is better than commercial tobacco. | |

Well I should say many bay area folk knew he was into pot and many california folk know of his written works. He's a supporter of legalizing weed and it's been long rumored that he grows it on his property and allows others to grow theirs as well.
