Which state is that in?

dunce

savannah georgia. it's on the coast.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...h,_Georgia

beautiful, magical place. very eccletic, full of every culture, all kinds of people, and charm out the wazoo. it's beautiful. the architecture, the decadence, the people...

when i was there was when i was leaving texas to move to nyc. so, sadly, i only got one day and 1 night there.

during the day, we drove around seeing all the architecture and the parks. that night we went to a gay bar right on the water, where it was karaoke. i sang a prince song, and suddenly it turned into prince ngiht. everybody was doing p and the time, vaniy, apples, all of it. we were dancing and all siging along. i don't think i paid for a drink all night. met the most heavenly guy, who hung out with me, asked me to dance, made out with me, and was a complete southern slice of gorgeous gentleman. gave me his number and told me to look him up next time i get to savannah before i went back to the hotel with my travelling buddies.

there's a GREAT book that is (mostly) true story of some of the people there during a murder trial in the 90s. it's called "midnight in the garden of good and evil" and it's fantastic. the locals don't always love the book, but you can see all the buildings where everything took place and where all the colorful locals lived.

I saw the movie years ago. Filled with suspense and all the stuff that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. eek Talk about architech? I'd recommend it too tinkerbell rose

I don't have a license so driving is scratched off right away as an option, unless I decided to travel with someone who drives. How the Greyhound down there? hmmm

*shudders* barf

No good, I take it?

Greyhound up here is a pretty decent way to travel, (beheading incidents aside lol ) but I did a trip down to California two years ago on the 'hound and was fucking horrified by how unpleasant it was. Dirty, overcrowded busses with rude drivers and disturbingly few pit stops. I had assumed -or hoped, anyway -that was the exception.

You can be proud of your race, but don't hate other races or think you are better than them. All races are equal.

I agree, but where'd that come from? confuse

New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Charlotte and Savannah would all be at the top of my list.

I personally HATE Charlotte, but the others, yeah. But you must go out in the sticks and observe and be one with the locals! wink

Atlanta is much fun too. People also don't really consider Florida the South, but oh honey... wink

Come to South Carolina we have the BEST POLITICS EVER.

I remember that law where only mini bottles were served at bars in sc, the rebel flag flies over the myrtle beach courthouse (mrytle? or other city?), tattoo and piercing establishments were illegal, but there is no motorcycle helmet law. is alcohol still illegal on sundays? i mean the sale of alcohol.

so in sc you could get completely sloshed and ride your motorcycle with no helmet. figures.

Mini bottles are now gone. Freepour like the rest of the country! The Confederate flag used to fly atop the Capitol in Columbia. It was taken down 6 or 7 years ago, but still flies on the State House grounds at a Confederate memorial. Tattoo and piercing establishments are now legal. Sale of alcohol on Sunday used to be prohibited in the state, but many counties and cities now sell alcohol on Sunday. No mandatory helmet law.

You do NOT go to New Orleans for a long-term place to live. You go to New Orleans for a place to party on a Friday & Saturday Night.

Trust me. I'm black and I'm from Louisiana. cool

I know it's rough down there post-Katrina. I've got friends down there, and it's no joke.

Wait a minute. Did someone tell someone to intentionally go to ORLANDO? that place is HORRIBLE. and i don't think you can call Florida "the South".

I am from Massachusetts and I love the South. Northern Florida is Southern in it's style. Southern Florida is actually more northern.
Personally I don't find southerners any more racist then northerners.

Actually, northern racism is worse than southern racism. But I wait for another day in P&R to write an explanation on it.

I agree but you and I both know more talk of that will land this cute little vacation thread in P and R where it becomes another ugly race thread that never gets anywhere.
I guess I just felt the need to address any concerns that the south is to be avoided due to racism. Not so. Atlanta and New Orleans have populations that are more African American than anything else. Because of that you can find African American museums, art, music history etc.
Atlanta has many transplants from other parts of USA so it doesn't quite have as strong of a southern feel as other southern cities IMO.

Atlanta is overpopulated by people looking for job opportunities & cheap housing. One of these days, they'll be as big as Houston.

I agree. And I live in Atlanta. The job market has no opportunity, to me. But my man is doing VERY well. So I work my crap job, and forget who I used to be before the reccesion. lol
