Have you had your 15 minutes of fame, yet? The way things are going, I think I might've had mine when I was WAY to young to remember. My mom took me with her to a Jackie Wilson concert when I was a baby (guess she couldn't find a baby sitter). She was invited on stage, with me in tow. I got to sit on Mr. Wilson's lap. I must've been the envy of every screaming female in the place. Wish I had a picture.
Share your 15 minutes, please.

I designed the opening sequence and ending credits for a television show once...very wild seeing your work broadcast on tv... :O
I had my artwork reviewed in the Los Angeles Times by their art critic once...does that count?

Romper Room!!!...OM-stinkin-G...Was that the show where the lady who hosted it would, at the end of the show, hold up some "magic mirror" or something, and say "I see Tommy...and I see Mary...and I...see...you!"..??...

Thats the one! I think it was Miss Linda or something like that. I remember more about being confused about what the hell I was doing there than I do about the show. Except the balance beam - I tore it up on that thing until some boy pushed me off!!! +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

In 1996 I made it onto the local and national news, as well as CNN, when Bob Dole came to visit Indianapolis for a campaign stop. I was in the front row, and CNN even did a close-up of me and the guy standing to my left (Ironically, the worst shot of me was on the local news--I think they got my back and the back of my head.) I've got it all archived on video.
BTW, I was 18 years old at the time, and I had long hair dyed a purple/burgundy color. I looked like the last guy who would vote for Bob Dole. Well, as I entered the building, one of his people approached me and asked if I wanted to sit on the stage--they had some bleachers set up on both sides of the podium for a selection of handpicked "everyday people," and I think they asked me because they wanted Dole to project the message, "I'm down with you young people." I declined and opted for a spot right in front of the podium, against the ropeline. That was my biggest media exposure. I've had a few other minor TV appearances... just crowd shots. (I'm not counting stuff I've done on local public-access channels.) Television aside, I was interviewed for an article by sonicnet.com (then a division of MTV News, or at least owned by MTV) at the 2000 Celebration, and they used a lot of quotes/information from me. I was also quoted on canoe.ca (a Canadian friend told me it's a pretty important website) right after Prince filed the lawsuits in 1999 against Uptown and others. And I was interviewed over the phone by Newsweek for an article on identity theft and similar crimes (my MasterCard number got in the hands of a European fraud ring that went on a $4500 shopping spree), but the magazine didn't use any of my interview in their article. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |
