Do white gay dudes prefer other white gay dudes?

First of all, this is a "serious" thread (or at least it tries to be)...

Let's see, all the gay man I've known in my life (eight dudes, to be exact. including my high school math teacher) were white. All the gay celebrities I know are white; hell, I even went (just for the heck of it) to a gay club with some female friends, and the 95% of the guys there were white; I was about to ask one of my friends if that club was, unnofficially, for "whites only" or something until I saw a few black guys dancing...
Even 90% of the (clearly) gay couples I've seen walking down the street were white guy + white guy...

I know this thread may look silly, but it's a question that I've had for some time: do you think that there are more gay white men than let's say, black? and do you think that the gay white "community" prefers, at least subconsciously, other white dudes?

I'd appreciate any opinion...

A serious threat?? omfg

I've frequented many many mixed clubs.
I've known many mixed couples.

If what you say is the case maybe it's a current trend. We're not really in the "scene" much.

I would say probably 50% do.
But that's their preference, and I'm cool with that.

I do find gay men REALLY stereotype their preferences though--some only chase bears, some only like circumcised men, and some are exclusive rice queens.

But in all honesty, the gay community was light years ahead in interracial relationships if you asked me. Even in Alabama during the 80's it was much more common to see to mix-race gay couples than straight.

Straight folk do this too. There's plenty of straight folk who only date a certain race or like a certain type. They just don't call it out like gays perhaps.

Also, what does the only gay celebrities you know being white have to do with white dudes preferring white dudes? That confuses me (granted not a difficult task).

I think we know the gay celebrities we know because they choose to be out. Period.

That was a secondary question I asked (perhaps, or surely, because of my ignorance in the matter, hence this thread) if there are overall more white gays than in any other race.

Yeah, but right now, all the gay celebrities I know are white.

OK, I agree.
I know a girl who only dates 'cut' men, one that is white but won't date white guys, and one who is white and won't date black guys. Most girls that I know have no interest in Asian guys (and openly admit it), but keep forgetting I'm Asian.

My male friends don't seem to be as picky overall, but there are some who only date certain races.

I think it's more pronounced with gay people because with straights there are elements of racial prejudices, etc., and while it may be true with gay men too, I think it's more to do with fetishes most of the time--the motivation for partner selection is a bit different.

I say that and see white guys EVERY DAY here in Bangkok who are only interested in Thai girls. It must be really frustrating being a white girl in this country, cause everyone (Asian, black, white, etc.) wants a Thai girl--and this isn't racial prejudice...it's a fetish.

(I know some will say it's all racial prejudices, and that's fine--I have no intention or interest pursuing that discussion honestly. lol )

Actually, there are just as many gay black men per capita (and Asian, latinos, etc.).

Hell, one only needs to stroll Miami's South Beach streets to see just how many gay black and latino men there are.

But in Hollywood or the 'industry' I think there is less pressure on 'white' actors/celebs to be 'straight' now. This isn't true of all facets though--it depends on the industry I guess. For example, Tom Cruise needs to do big budget action movies, so he'll remain in the closet for some time.

many people have a specific type they like, gay or straight.

my parameters are really blurry compared to most folk. i've dated and/or fucked across the board in ethnicities, ages, weights, heights, masculinity, feminity, sexual orientation, and gender.

it's about what's inside for me.

that being said my ideal sexual partner would be my height or taller and would have dark hair and dark eyes. i have a penchant for heighth, hairyness, dark hair, and olive or dusk skin tones.

whereas i am so white i am almost translucent and have red/blond hair and blue eyes.

To the first question - of course there is. There are more white guys than black guys so naturally there will be more gay white guys than gay black guys.
As for whether white guys prefer other white guys, most gay white guys I know do. I for one prefer white guys for the most part just because they're the type I like the best! I wouldn't rule out ethnic people altogether, but I generally don't find them attractive. There are loads & loads & loads of white guys who crave after black guys like crack though. One of my gay white friends dates black guys exclusivley!

Why is there this artificial distinction that many gays make between the "boys" and the "girls?"

I was actually enlightened on the subject briefly by an orger once and I had never seen it before. But then I realized by observations in Tampa that a lot of gays seem to make this distinction.

I've even heard the self-hating 'straight acting' term thrown around like Anx's penis at a political rally afterparty.

First of all, I think Dan is correct; I do not have numbers, but I am almost sure that the percentage of gay interracial relationships is higher than straight ones.

The reason that a lot of gay black men do not frequent places where you can spot them, is becuz that there is still peer pressure on gay black males. They do not tend to come out easily (if at all).

There is a reason there are books written on the subject of gay black males redefining their sexuality as to fit it into the mould of not being perceived gay or effeminate. "On the Down Low" was a book that received a lot of press when it came out.
http://www.amazon.com/Dow...278&sr=1-1

Also, just because you do not see them does not mean they're not there. I bet there is a bigger population of white folk where you are, so it's only logical you'd see less non-white gays.

Also, (lots of also's) here in Holland there are different kinds of clubs for different kinds of gays. We got the prissy queens, the leather studs, the clubbers. So maybe you just went to the wrong club, dude.

Anyway I'm glad of this reply because, why on earth there has to be a specific "black gay" parade? Just don't get it. Why this separation of races, if everyone is gay? (hey, I'm not sayin' it's negative, I'm only sayin' that it exists)

Because the black gay men didn't chose to be discriminated by BOTH their race and the gay community at large.

It's VERY common for gay men to say, "I date every one but BLACKS"... hell, just go to any gay dating site and you'll see that.

They [black gay men] didn't draw this line. They didn't create this divide. So a sperate black gay pride event is their way of empowering themselves in luie of the added burden placed upon them that other members of the gay community implicitly support.

No, not top-vs-bottom, but specific to what is perceived as 'masculine'.
Most of my male gay friends are tops (almost exclusively) and none of the want a 'girl' but a manly man who likes it in his hole. That sort of thing.

It's like gay men just can't help fetishizing(is that a word?) even masculinity, as is evident in some of the 'butch' styles and patterns they unconvincingly fall into. One of my gay friends on facebook once told me, "you'll meet Chuck Norris at a club, and when you get back to his apartment he comes out of the bathroom greeting you in a kimono." falloff

ahh, traditional gender roles.

yea, i dont understnad that either. it always bugs me because i am pretty middle of the road, but people want to call me "gurl" and shit. i guess it is just easier to see it in ridiculously posed no-shades-of-gray way. you are wither straight acting or your a drag queen.
