You are lucky to have a kick start that allows for income based housing, SSI, and food allowance inhouse. Many aren't as lucky as you.
Save what you can and don't overspend the money on pricier items that you can get on sale. Yes budget yourself. Try not to buy on credit.

If you set up an account try not to spend money allotted to your household by the state for food and clothing on things that are not a necessity like videogames and DVD's.

Report all extra income to your housing management and case workers, because its the right and responsible thing to do.

hug Stay blessed.

And paintedlady knew that how? She gave you advice to try to help you. She bothered to respond to you, giving her time and thoughts. No 'thank you'? Why the fuck should anybody help you if you're going to be so demanding yet ungrateful?

Why not say what specifically you need help with to begin with?

Oh, I'm sorry... did you mean my post?

Oh well then, I guessed since you didn't define what type of advice you specifically needed regarding your finances, what I posted was a bit basic and I only considered what information you recently posted here.

What help do you need? Are you looking to make a large purchase? A house/car? Did you come into some money? Lotto winnings/deceased loved one left you some $$$? Are you looking for advice on how to do your taxes? What type of accounts to start up?

What is the advise for? Maybe we can help... unless its for illegal purposes like a way to cheat the system even further like do tax cheats and keep income unreported from caseworkers to keep collecting welfare illegally... but you would NEVER do that, I am sure! hmm

Right now we are in the process of moving because we have been evicted(due 2 a HUGE BIG misunderstanding between us and our landlords over rent issues, which is another LONG story) and because of that we decided 2 stop our monthly rent check, because we know that our landlords are wrong in evicting us!! Also, we feel that these people have taken enough money from us anyway(My husband gets $1086 in disability and SSI monthly checks and our rent is $846 cos we live in one of those Godawful Assisted Living Care Apartment complexes with onsite medical care for my husband and dining halls and everything)

Well, we were on the phone with my mother about 2 weeks ago and she said that in order not 2 have any trouble following us, we should write out another check for the rent and submit it, which we did and anyway, one day last week we checked our bank account and it seemed that the second check hadnt gone through yet(our rent is $846 and our ATM showed $997( and we thought "OH NO, the second check hadnt gone through yet!!" and we had $300 which my mother had sent us for other things so we thought we better put that in the bank 2 cover for it, anyway, the 2nd check had got returned back 2 the bank due 2 insufficient funds 2 cover it and we had £552 in the bank cos we had a Letter from the Bank 2 days ago regarding this and so, we decided fuck it, so we paid up a couple of bills!!

And anyway, this evening we went 2 order pizza both online and over the phone and our debit card has been declined!! Yet we know when we ordered the pizza that we had enough in the bank 2 cover for the payment!! Do u think that our landlords or the bank have submitted the 2nd check a second time and now we are about $$500 in the red??

Anyway, si there a way we can retrieve the 2nd check back and correct our bank status??

And those creditors to arrange payments and stop being charged penalties and added interest. ASAP!

Gotta be open about it, communicate with banks and creditors, get it all out in the open and be realistic about it to work out what you're going to do. All this 'faffing' about, ignoring the problems or trying to run from them just makes things worse and causes more worry. No point saying "it should've been covered, I had this and that in there". Something went wrong. She should try to find out what exactly happened and start working out how to set it straight.

Let's not forget about recent stories of companies like TJMaxx/Citizen's Bank that have had people's accounts tapped into by employees and had accounts emptied fraudulently.

Well yes. All the more reason to stay on top of things, possibly by contacting the appropriate people rather than posting on a prince fan site wasting what could be very expensive time.

Its not easy here, many foreigners think this is a land of fat and lazy people but we are people of industry that bust our butts to earn a good living like every other nation... its not easy. Some places will chew you up and spit you out.

I lived in the UK, when my husband was placed in this Assisted Living Apartment Complex and for 6 months me, my parents and social workers and my husband and people here in the Offices all got into tele-conferencing and we couldnt get any straight answers to straight questions such as "Do I have 2 pay my own personal rent 2 live here when I return back 2 the USA???" Anyway, this went on for 6 or 7 LONG MONTHS, in the end the Joe finally told me over the phone that I didnt have 2 pay my own rent(by a previous Director) and that his rent of $846 would b our total rent, so I thought "Great!! I can handle that" so I booked flights and flew 8,000 miles from the other side of the world and reunited with my husband and everything was going fine until a month ago when I was asked by the new Director here how long I was gonna b here for and I told them that I was here for good and then she told me that I had 2 pay rent(a further $846, no less) I went ballistic and they almost called the Police in and they told me 2 pack my things up and go and live in the local YWCA.

Anyway, the state Ombudsman got involved and she is on our side and everything and apparently social workers and social services should have sat down with my husband and discussed his finances and everything before they even thought about moving him into here!! He gets $1086 and out of that $846 is for rent of this place!! Doesnt leave much change for anything else does it???

Anyway, on the 2nd of this month we were hit with a written eviction notice, cos they said that Joe violated the terms of his lease by keeping a "guest" in his apartment for longer than 7 nights!! I am not a GUEST, I am his WIFE for Gods sake!!! They knew I was coming over here 2 live cos Joe told them so so doesnt the word LIVE mean something of a more permanent fixture?????shocked shocked

Tenant rights and responsibilities are written in the lease, but its always key to refer back to the fine print. Because many people tend to abuse the system here so unless YOUR name is on the lease, married or not you are considered a "guest" and he should have gotten written permission before he could let you stay for any length of time JIC.

You are an adult and you better believe ANY person that is on the lease over the age of 18 best be in school FULL time or the rent will sky rocket because you are considered able bodied and a money maker, they want $$ and that's the bottom line.

This prevents people from moving in tons of family members to live virtually rent free, and it is considered a violation if you sway from the lease in any way.

There is a new law now if you smoke you will be turned down for affordable income-based units here where I live! This is a measure to cut down on the fires and drug activity in the rent control units. Crazy huh? Times are changing now.
