Currently the world's greatest players are Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and despite missing through injuries a lot of the time Fernando Torres.
The massive club are ARSENAL.

It is still called football there and it's the official name for that sport. Nobody forced the Yanks and the Aussies to change the name of the sport

The Yids? But yeah, probably the most likeable club from London (Fulham, QPR and West Ham are also quite okay).

endy: Read about that What's your team? My local team is the Mighty Bournemouth FC who unfortuantely spend most of their season in court trying to stop the tax man from forcing them into administration They do have the longest name in the Football league though their one claim to fame I actually support Since 1981 so I did have to experience some relative lean times before the glory What you don't remember never happened

The only way to get proper tickets (without the ballot shit), if you're not a season ticket holder, is to buy one of those hospitality tickets. They are fucking expensive, but you can make sure your friends sit next to you when you get them.

I'd been lucky in the ballots until a couple of months ago and now it's gone back to being really difficult to get tickets again. Can't even get them on Viagogo. Seriously considering season ticket next year but the automatic cup scheme really puts me off.

OK, while I don't follow football that much, when asked which English team I root for I will probably always answer Liverpool, at least for historical reasons.
Currently there is no real "local" team I can root for, at least not from the village I grew up in... of course there are several clubs within Reykjavík, but I never follow Icelandic football teams, although I might occasionally watch when the national team is playing. There is though one distinctly local player I must mention, because he's from the same small village as me and of course I know him, although he's a few years older than me. He started with the local club UMF Súlan, then went to the Icelandic team ÍBV, before he started playing in England. His name is Ívar Ingimarsson and he now plays for Reading. And here's the logo of the old sports club from my village that used to have a football team, at least when Ívar Ingimarsson lived there.

No problem. I don't watch football that much, but the stuff I know about it is because many of my friends follow the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. The Icelandic national football team sucks for the most part (never qualified for the World Cup), but we have a few good players that play in the lower ranking leagues in England and one player (Eidur Gudjohnsen) who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. That's him (picture from when he played with FC Barcelona): But most Icelanders don't bother with the local teams - they just watch the English Premier League. Plus where I come from (a small village), as a kid, if you did not say you supported Liverpool in the Premier League, it was almost as if you were begging to get your ass kicked. [Edited 3/18/10 17:37pm] He is currently on loan at the greatest club in the world.

And Hreidarsson had a good spell with Ipswich back then. I saw Hreidarsson play for Iceland against Scotland last year he had a good game. Solid defender. If he's in your squad at the start of the season history shows your team is getting relegated. MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!!

5th in Premier League. 15th in League One. 22nd in League Two. This despite having one of the richest owners in English football. Not a good year for my teams. . [Edited 3/19/10 17:51pm] MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!!
