What I do....
is print screen, go to Microsoft Paint, paste the picture there and then save it.... then I go to Photoshop and finish it from there "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!????? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm assuming you're on Windows XP, Vista or 7? It sounds like either the way you're capturing the screen or you have an issue with your clipboard. Go to the start, run bar. The type Clipbrd and hit enter. A window will pop up with all the items in the clipboard now. Delete them all. Then try your capture and paste again.

I really need to purchase a Windows system. If anything, just so I can help my friends out with all their issues with them.
It's tough because I'm relying on memory here, which is becoming fuzzier over time. I'm not even that familiar with Windows 7.

Why would photoshop work like that anyway?
I just use the screen capture on Irfanview. Irfanview saves the files on the HD and then I open up the files saved on Photoshop (5.1 mind you). I don't think using the clipboard function for anything else than text really makes too much sense.

It's actually very handy in photoshop or going between photoshop, powerpnt, visio, Dreamweaver and a number of other applications. It just speeds things up a bit. I like being able to manipulate an image or gif and then copy it to powerpnt. Saves about 20 seconds, but I'm impatient. But that's not important right now. Do you think I should just ignore my crush?

To take a screen shot and save it as a picture
1) Press the PRINT SCREEN key. The PRINT SCREEN key is near the upper right corner of your keyboard. 2) Click Start, click Accessories, and then click Paint. 3) In the Paint window, click Edit, and then click Paste. 4) The image will appear in the Paint window, click File, and then click Save As. 5) In the Save As dialog box, in the File name box, type a name for the screen shot, and then click Save. On A MAC If you're in the Finder and go to Help, type in shortcuts for taking pictures of the screen then press Return. You'll get the Keyboard shortcuts to take a picture of the entire screen, a selected portion of the screen, or a window .... To take a picture of the whole screen, press Command-Shift-3. To take a picture of part of the screen, press Command-Shift-4 and drag to select the area you want. Take a picture of a window, a menu, the menu bar, or the Dock: Press ⌘-Shift-4, then press the Space bar. Move the pointer over the area you want so that it's highlighted, then click. To drag to select the area instead, press the Space bar again. To cancel, press Escape. Note: Mac OS X 10.2 and later saves pictures as PDF files. See document 107078 "Mac OS X 10.2: Screen Shots Are Saved in PDF, May Be Converted" for additional information. To copy the screen capture to the Clipboard instead of saving it as a file, press Control-Command-Shift-3 to copy the entire screen to the Clipboard, or Control-Command-Shift-4 to copy the selected range to the Clipboard. [Edited 3/19/10 15:45pm] or you could just Google ScreenGrab...there are lots of add on's and downloadable programs which are mostly one click aplications.... [Edited 3/19/10 15:52pm]

Like one of those desktop theme type programs? They sometimes interrupt the ability to past to photoshop.

WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!????? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can you paste (as a test) to any other graphic application? If not, try the following... Press CTRL ALT Prt Sc all at the same time, instead of just Prt Sc. I think this flushes existing content from your clipboard, at the same time as making the new screengrab. Also, your scratch pads may be full. Try installing and running Clean Up: http://www.stevengould.or...&task=view Just make sure to tweak the settings before running, so it doesn't delete any useful cookies.
