What if Tiger wins...............?

If Tiger wins the Masters, it will be another reason why I don't think golf is a sport. Imagine someone sitting out out months of an NFL, NBA, or MLB season and showing up trying 2 win a title. They would get DEMOLISHED and embarrassed all at the same time.

Okay...so...what you really want to debate is whether golf is a sport.

Not goin' there. arrow

Boxing, really? Don't they sit out for months at a time? Nobody said Tiger wasn't practicing this whole time.

Boxers train before every fight.....for weeks against other boxers.

but who says tiger isn't training? Golf technically is a competition against the course, not the other person.

What athletic abilities does boxing require other than speed, strength, agility, stamina and strategy?

It's that whole 'skill vs. sport' argument(golf, auto racing, bowling, etc.)

Look at baseball - you don't have to be a great athlete to play it, just great hand speed and hand-eye coordination.

I am still waiting on the MJ point to be addressed. And I would bet with some research you would find athletes in other "real" sports that were away from the game for months, be it due to fake retirements, injuries, whatever...and came back and performed well, some even winning championships.

I personally have problems classifying sports where you don't compete directly against the other team as true sports (bowling, golf, etc). I do not agree with saying it is a non sport simply because you can be dominant after time away.

thumbs up!

I was only comparing it to golf because the OP asked which sport takes time off and is still able to compete. Boxers take a long time off between competition but they train during that time. I assume Tiger has been training too.

well now that he's not tripping and falling into pussy every ten minutes, I'd think he'd come back even harder (lol, pun intended wink )

now all he has to do is train himself not to duck and run for his vehicle when someone raises a golf club near his head thumbs up!

Well Kim Clijsters retired, got married, gave birth and came back and won the US Open in only her 3rd tournament back.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't play well. He's fortunate in golf as essentially nobody else has any control whatsoever on how he performs.

yeah when you have the skills, that's years of training built into your body, and a few months off might make you rusty for a second, but these guys can get the feeling back right there in competition.

Athletes are used to to performing whether they are at their best or not. This is a guy who won with a messed up knee. I watched Pete Sampras throwing up and winning matches. Michael Jordan practically collapsing in Utah as he threw points on the board.

Athletes, winners, know how to compete, and they do it even under challenging circumstances such as injury, sickness, or having been out of competition for a little while.

I thought this was going to be about all the trim he would get if he won.

it's raining in the strip clubs in Augusta!
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
