Corey Haim Dead Actor Corey Haim, who starred in some popular movies in the 1980s and recently tried to relaunch his career with a reality TV show, has died.
The Los Angeles Police Department said Haim, 38, was pronounced dead after 3 a.m. at a Burbank hospital. He had been living in the San Fernando Valley. Details of his death were not immediately available. The L.A. coroner's office was investigating. A police spokesman said more details would be available later. Haim was a teen star in the 1980s in such movies as "The Lost Boys" and "License to Drive." He struggled with drug problems but in recent years had attempted a comeback, starring in an A&E reality show called "The Two Coreys" with longtime co-star Corey Feldman. Times TV critic Robert Lloyd described the show this way: "The premise seems to be this: Corey [Feldman] and his wife, Susie, have welcomed Corey [Haim] into their home in order to make a television show about, um, welcoming Corey Haim into their home. ... This arrangement supposedly has something to do with helping Corey H. get his career/life back on track -- clearly we're to regard him, and with some cause, as the more troubled of the two." [Updated at 5:56 a.m.: KTLA News quoted police sources as saying detectives were looking into whether Haim died of a drug overdose.] --Shelby Grad http://latimesblogs.latim...at-38.html

First Boner in February, now Haim this month, and John Hughes last year. The 80's icons are dying off - way too early!

And the same people who will shout that are the same folks who will shout "Feldman doesn't care about him!" if he chooses to say nothing publicly. It's a catch-22 w/ the public.

Haim had much bigger drug issues than Feldman has, especially in recent years. Feldman is vegan and lives healthier in general. Haim's demons w/ drug seemed to have a bigger, and stronger, hold on him.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

The report is a bit wrong in that he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m., not after 3 a.m.
Also, it seems he was on prescription medication, which I think was known. It was noted during The Two Coreys on A&E, especially while they were shown filming Lost Boys: The Tribe. The overdose was accidental, but of course we'll know more later. I wonder if it's accidental like Ledger's death was (with a toxic mix of meds that he didn't know was toxic), or he was just flat out abusing the prescription medication. I'll be 42 in 12 days, and I can't imagine dying this young. When older actors die, it's a bit of a given, but we take comfort in their vast career, rich filmography, and endearing moments on the big and small screens. But despite the list of films Haim appeared in, 38 is just flat out too young to die.

omg, so sad. I still remember going to the movies for the first time without an adult with a friend of mine to see "License to Drive." We both thought we were so grown lol, at the age of 12. We had so much fun and Corey was sooo cute. I watched "The Two Coreys" and saw his struggle, so I can't say that I'm shocked...rest in peace, I really hope you are. RIP Corey 'Lost Boys' Corey Haim, career blighted by drug use, dies at Burbank hospital at 11:10 on March 10, 2010, EDT. By Robert Jablon, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS In this 1987 file publicity photo provided by NBC, actor Corey Haim, then star of the NBC comedy "Roomies," is shown. (THE ASSOCIATED PRESS/NBC) LOS ANGELES - Corey Haim, a 1980s teen heartthrob for his roles in "Lucas" and "The Lost Boys" whose career was blighted by drug abuse, has died. He was 38. The Toronto-born actor died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday at a Burbank hospital, Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said. An autopsy will determine the cause of death and there were no other details, she said. Sgt. Michael Kammert said there's no evidence of foul play. Haim had flu-like symptoms before he died and was getting over-the-counter and prescription medications, Sgt. William Mann said. The cause of death is unknown, Mann said. "He could have succumbed to whatever (illness) he had or it could have been drugs. Who knows?" Mann said. "He has had a drug problem in the past." Haim was taken by ambulance to the hospital from an apartment in Los Angeles near Burbank. The enormous complex is known as Oakwood and is popular with young actors, Kammert said. Haim acknowledged his struggle with drug abuse to The Sun in 2004. "I was working on Lost Boys when I smoked my first joint," he told the British tabloid. "I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack," he said. Haim said he went into rehabilitation and was put on prescription drugs. He took both stimulants and sedatives such as Valium. "I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck," he said. "But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day." In 2007, he told ABC's "Nightline" that drugs hurt his career. "I feel like with myself I ruined myself to the point where I wasn't functional enough to work for anybody, even myself. I wasn't working," he said. The baby-faced Haim got his start in television commercials at 10 and earned a good reputation for his work in such films as 1985's "Murphy's Romance" and his portrayal of Liza Minelli's dying son in the 1985 television film "A Time to Live." The same year, he began appearing in the CBC TV series "The Edison Twins." His career peaked and he became a teen heartthrob with his roles in the 1986 movie "Lucas," and "The Lost Boys," in which he battled vampires. In later years, he made a few TV appearances and had several direct-to-video movies. He also appeared in a handful of recent movies that have not yet been released. But in 1997 he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing debts for medical expenses and more than $200,000 in state and federal taxes. His assets included a few thousand dollars in cash, clothing and royalty rights. He was somewhat of a fixture in a trendy Toronto neighbourhood, where he reportedly frequented a neighbourhood bar and was not shy about approaching strangers to discuss attempts to get back into shape and return to the spotlight. In recent years, Haim appeared in the A&E reality TV show "The Two Coreys" with his friend Corey Feldman. It was cancelled in 2008 after two seasons. Feldman later said Haim's drug abuse strained their working and personal relationships. In a 2007 interview on CNN's "Larry King Live," Haim called himself "a chronic relapser for the rest of my life." -With files from The Canadian Press ©The Canadian Press, 2010 Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! So sad.
I watched that reality show "the two coreys" and it was just painful to look at how sickly he was compared to feldman and just the way feldman and his wife kind of looked down on haim (they're allegedly divorced...hah). He seemed to know or suspect that he wouldn't live very long. On the show the two Coreys were going to therapy to work out their friendship issues and it came out that they were both molested by the same dude, a guy feldman maintained a relationship with, and that was part of the discontentment between them. Well he's in a better place now.
