I have a homeboy who owns a hot lil restaurant here in Dallas and they celebrated the 1 year anniversary last night (my ass is FUCKED up this morning). Anyway, I've known Tony for over 10 years and from the FIRST time I saw his hot lil EYE-talian ass I told him he looked like a young, skinny Sinatra. So ever since I've called him "Frankie Baby." He actually ignores me if I call him Tony.

I've studied modern and contemporary art history for over 10 years; never heard him mentioned or read anything about him.

Firstly, Abstract art is not always squiggles. Barnett Newman, Frank Stella, Mark Rothko, and (one of my faves) Ad Reinhardt, could all be considered examples of artists who made abstract paintings but you'd be hard pressed to find "squiggles" in their canvases. In art Abstract (with a capital 'A') is more a way of thinking about not necessarily a specific style. (As an aside Reinhardt spent 6 years doing a series of what he titled Abstract Paintings that are black canvases -- not a squiggle in sight.)

Sometimes in art, it really does matter if you are the first one to do something that wasn't done before. So as silly as it may sound, you might become famous just for doing something no one else did before.

(I'm over-over simplifying, the history of modern/contemporary art is much more complex, of course; and it would require an entirely different thread.)
