Men's Fashion, Summer 2010

I'm going into Manchester tomorrow, to buy some new threads.

I have no idea what I should be buying. On every fashion website I look at, it all seems to be about plaid shirts and skinny ties... I have dozens of plaid shirts - and skinny ties make my neck look tree-trunk thick.

Does anybody have any tips? What's this season's colour going to be???

I need links to this season's best look.

Please. lol

You actually wear a colour because its the colour of the season? And what if the colour doesn't suit you?

just buy whatever looks good on you. i always go for basic stuff.
earth tones and clean lines. you can wear it wherever and on any
occasion.

fashionable clothing is always out of style too quickly. i think
it's ok for those who like it but there's nothing sadder than
seeing people walk down the street 2 years after some hip trend,
still wearing those clothes.

i see these guys walking down the street almost daily that still
wear those patched, ribbed, torn whatever jeans or jeans that are
a different colour on the front than on the back. that was 'in',
like 3 years ago or something. it makes those guys look like some
rumanian call boys imo.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Well, yeah. boxed

Anyway, everybody subcosciously changes the colours they wear as the seasons change - unless you're completely goth and dress head-to-toe in black on the beach.

If a colour doesn't suit me, I won't wear it as a big block of the same colour, like a plain-dyed shirt; I'll buy the colour in a pattern.

I will never wear sage green, peach or cream in block colours. I'm naturally very pale and those colours make me look ill. Apple green, burnt orange and beige are fine.

Well I adapt the extremes and make sure that whatever I buy is a mild toned-down version of what fashion is dictating. I want to be able to wear clothes for longer than six months.

I've pretty much got this season's colour pallette for menswear sussed.

Aside from black and white (black for accents and huge swathes of white) it seems to be:

Dove grey.

Cherry red.

Electric blue.

Acid yellow.

Mushroom.

Tangerine.

Deep purple.

My favourite colours are navy blue and chocolate brown - but I can live with these.

Can't wait to go shopping!!!

Well to me it seems this is the answer to the thread I just read a few minutes ago about how you are so hungry you have a headache and have no money or food.

This is what I bought today...

An acid-yellow skinny-fit V neck sweater from River Island

A grey plaid blazer from H&M. Nearly every store had blazers for men, they are gonna be huge this Summer

Some white deck shoes from H&M - in case I ever get invited onto a yacht. lol

A petrol blue bomber jacket from H&M

A white Gio-Goi t-shirt with rainbow rhinestones and gold logo

A deep purple Adidas t-shirt with light purple and pink print design

A black cardigan from H&M

An electric blue t-shirt with crazy flourescent print by Jack Jones

A grey marl striped long-sleeved tee from H&M

A couple of cheap steel necklaces and a ring - can't remember where from. One of the necklaces has a pendant saying "YEAH" on it

An aqua-blue/deep-purple plaid shirt from H&M

A new wallet from River Island

Some dark-grey jeans from Burton. They were pretty pricey for no-name jeans, but I liked the cut and the material. They're coated denim, like a mailbag sort of feel

A nylon padded sleeve for my netbook - overpriced. Everywhere I went they were overpriced. It was a Belkin sleeve.

A new digital camera. I lost my last one years ago. This is a Kodak one - a nice shiny red. It's only 9MP, but it takes pictures instantly. You know how a lot of digital cameras seem to pause when you press the shutter button? Well, this doesn't. Bargain. Should have been £159.99, reduced to £59.99 - no case with it though. mad

Some Superman logo briefs. In case I get lucky

A leather satchel from River Island. It's tan and looks like a doctor's bag. It's very preppy. Love it

I think there may have been more t-shirts. I can't remember.

I didn't spend a fortune, considering all the stuff I got. I half-considered a tangerine Diesel t-shirt with a deep V-neck, but it was £30.00. I think anything more than £20.00 for a t-shirt is a rip-off.

I'll probably augment these clothes with stuff from Primark over the coming months. The t-shirts at Primark are more like £3.00 than £30.00.
