Graphically, brilliant! I'm all old-school with games too so I almost put it back on my shelf but a day later I was converted and hooked. It's on 360 too if you have one of them. I wouldn't say it's easy but you never know unless you try. Try it at someone else's house one day, if possible. Here's an explanation: You only control one character and the other two are automatic. You keep changing "roles" to choose which set of abilities they use. It sounds complicated but is pretty smooth once you get used to it.
