Book Smarts vs. Street Smarts

It's a gift to have both, but I've met a few people with book smarts that have NO common sense what so ever! eek Do you know someone like this?
They may also be considered geeks. My doctor is a geek, but he's very cool.
cool

I feel I have the best of both worlds...you?

I thought I did, but I have this one "friend" who keeps telling me I've wasted my time on education, and am therefore naive. I sense some "hatin'"... hmmm

I do alright... I just don't always agree with the stuff he spouts.

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

It's usually people who, IMO, hate that I am smarter than them, that say I don't have the non-book smarts. It gives them something to hold on to, and all they have to do is give one example of an awkward or less than ideal social interaction and to them, that makes their claim justified, there is no arguing against it.

Anyhow, I have both as do many, maybe even most, people.

Don't worry, your friend is short sighted.

Even though I came from the ghetto, I've ALWAYS noticed that street intelligence can only back you up for a limited time.

I mean, yeah I agree, its a plus to have common sense and sharp wit but I don't want to be the parent who always end up having a question mark above her head everytime her child comes to her for a question.

And anyway, those who claim street intelligence and think they're fine with it ALONE don't even have street intelligence to begin with,,,,,intelligent people are never content with what they ALREADY know, they always seek for knowledge.

Thats how I personally feel about the subject.

Street smarts is the same as book smarts, it's something you learn.

Plenty of people without book smarts ALSO don't have street smarts because they're idiots! lol

Some people just happen to be learned in different areas than others, and some people never seem to learn a thing.

My wife always tells me I have tons of book sense, but no common sense, to which I tell her, "Bitch, you be trippin'!" But, I feel I have plenty of both (but I do agree with her to a point--maybe a little more book sense than common).
