The thing I hated as a kid, but sort of like as a grown-up, is spinach. When I was a kid, my mom always bought canned spinach, which is the nastiest, stringiest stuff you've ever seen. It made me gag. There are also a lot of things I never knew liked, because I never had them - like kale and collard greens. Strangely that is one vegetable I can always get my daughter to eat...canned spinach. And she doesn't even like it cooked. Just right out the can. I don't know how safe that is or whatever, but if she hasn't gotten sick or died from eating it after all these years, I guess it ain't gonna happen. That and broccoli are the only vegetables she will eat.

My mom tried everything and in the end she just gave up, I think. The first time I started eating foods I used not to like was when I was 16-17 and my bf challenged me, as soon as he found out I just shouted I disliked it, even before trying. Ever since I eat almost everything. Except cauliflower. Cuz it still make me retch. The smell of the cooked variety, I mean. That happened to me too, except once I started making it myself I NEVER let it be overcooked and then it doesn't smell same with the grossness of brussel sprouts, if you slightly undercook them, voila, NICE!!!

I bet if I made you my roasted beet salad with blood orange vinaigrette, you'd love them. Liver just tastes like ass. I don't know how anyone can eat that. roasted beetroot with feta and walnuts (I like baby beets even in a can though)

ah, i miss the days when i could eat anything and gain no weight... I'm the same. I wasn't fussy as a kid and ate pretty much anything, and I'm the same now, except I no longer like sweet stuff like candy, cakes and chocolate. I know I HATED onions and green peppers as a child and now I put onions in everything and like green peppers. (Though, I still prefer sweeter peppers, like red, yellow and orange to green.) I've noticed Thai kids seem to change once they get to around 3 or 4 years old. My 2 year old nephew likes sucking the spicy sauce off of noodles, loves slurping sour soup from Mon's noodle soup, and if you don't keep any eye on him will grab a can of beer with the quickness and suck up the beer on the top of the can. He doesn't like anything sweet, but I bet in a couple of years he'll love sweet stuff and won't be so keen on those strong-tasting things I mentioned above.
