Me too..shutter island was very slow paced..I figured out the "twist" in the first 5 mins...it was not spooky (like the trailer implied)

Shit, it's been a while since I've seen a movie.
The last one was avatar. It was pretty good despite the transparent "westerner saves the ignorant natives who couldn't save themselves' undercurrent. I also saw 2012 which was...fun but stupid. I think the one I saw before that was probably Harry Potter 6 (big letdown), or 9 (big letdown and I wasn't even expecting that much). Gosh, I need to go see something spectacular to make up for this.

I refuse to see anything with Mel Gibson in it
Alice in Wonderland. Underwhelming, considering all the hype The Crazies. FUN FUN FUN, but the ending was anti-climactic Shutter Island. High expectations. The movie barely delivered. The Wolfman. Utter waste of time, some cool special effects though

just watched "the road" yesterday. i thought that was a cool movie. altho,
the boy did start to get on my nerves a bit because i couldn't stand that extremely horrible way he kept calling his dad 'papa' in a sheepish voice. beyond that, the movie was very good imo. other films i've watched the last few days are: knowing. with nicholas cage, i think that's about 2 years old already antichrist. the lars von trier film. disturbing and messed up, yet beautiful. the hangover. just lame comedic fun. i laughed 3 times, more than usual. eagle eye. ugh. all that action, for what? it could have been done in 5 mins. burn after reading. i thought this was a kinda cool film. some funny parts. last movie i watched in a movie theatre was "2012" because i like disaster films. this one was too predictable and lame tho. my friend and i could tell exactly what would happen shot for shot. even by today's standards it was too lame for words. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Well, basically there were 2 twists... (Spoiler below) ..... The fact he didnt even meet his new partner on the boat trip there made me wonder...his partner could have been ANYONE...like an employee of the asylum. Or even an imaginary friend. Also the connection between his dead wet girlfrend and the Patients drowning-children was immediately noticeable. Leo's final convo right before he walks off with the hospital staff was very good.

I didn't figure it out within the first five minutes, but I did clue in the first time he had a detailed conversation with his dead wife. Then it just took ages for the movie to go through its laborious, entirely unbelievable plot.

I would have really liked Knowing if it weren't for the fact that they didn't allow Nicolas Cage to go with his son on the ship. There's no way an advance race like that could have possibly not been able to accomodate one additional human being, especially one that may be able to pass on his knowledge of science (he was a Science teacher afterall) to the next generation. It ended up being an arbitrary 'moral' decision made by an alien race--an arrogant decision. They were playing 'God'. That part was so stupid it ruined what could have been a very interesting sci-fi movie to me.

I would have liked it more if halfway through I didn't realise it was filmed in my city and spent the rest of the film trying to pick out landmarks and wondering if people from Boston really think this is filmed in Boston?

Really? Haven't seen it yet(although I read the spoiler). I keep hearing accusations that the man is a misogynist, from the way he cast his actresses and seem to ALWAYS punish his female roles in his movies. Would you agree with that? I loved Dancer In The Dark,,,,but even so, I'm reluctant to watch this becuase of the grotesque reviews.
