And those shoes don't look 80's. When I was a little boy I wanted to be Olivia Newton-John so bad. I would wear a headband and legwarmers just so I could be like Olivia Physical.

hell yeah thats bad ass!! you rocked the Micheal Jackson jacket? No, I never got that jacket. But I had a black studded one. The skirt in my pic is a mini and I had on heels and ankle socks. See the parachute pants on my "friend?" I wore the studded bracelets and chokers too. Oh GOD! The headband and shades at night. The reintroduction into mainstream(ish) pop culture: That's right motherfuckers---double cassette and shit. Basically, this entire outfit Denim on denim lawd, forgive me. Because synthetically produced hydrogenated oil which even ants and roaches won't touch must surely be good for our bodies!

I don't like much about the 80's, Ginger Lynn made some cute porn back then, but I think I like her better now.
Didn't like the style, didn't like 80's sounding music bleh Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

Luckily, Prince was en vogue with much of the 'alternative' crowd, and at the very least tolerated because copies of the black album were floating around. Oddly, the band members of 'Remy Zero' (they made that Smallville song I think), went to my school and the basist at the time was a HUGE Prince fan and a copy of the black album slipped into my hand ala this dude. Prince didn't fall out of fashion until Diamonds & Pearls. Now with my former 'Def Leppard' friends, Prince was a gay pussy. I remember my Led Zepplin obsession didn't end with my introduction into college/alternative music though.

One of my happiest moments was when The Cure's Dissentigration was beaten on it'w opening week by Def Leopard's Hysteria. Not because the Cure lost, but because Robert Smith was interviewed about it. They asked him how he felt to be in the second slot in America just behind another British act. I think the intention in the question was to bring forth some inner nationalist 'British' pride in Robert. Robert replied, "I hate Def Leopard... I mean, I hated them before, but I hate them even more now." I just about laughed forever on that one

Some random favorite memories:
Much older than the '80s, but this French brand first gained North American popularity around '87. I still rock their stuff ... Ninjas were all the rage... I'd sneak and watch softcore porn and sexy foreign films -- all scrambled -- on cable TV... Afrocentricity permeated pop culture. I never wore this kind of stuff, but the mindset transformed my life... Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
