^^ Kind of a similar story. My sister worked with this guy. He had started to have pain, and just not feeling well. He went to the clinic, where they ooked him over, and told him that they could'nt find anything wrong with him. The pain persisted,so he went back, and again they told him that they could find a problem, gave him some pain meds, and sent him home. That night he told his girlfriend that he was feeling much better, and went to bed,but he did'nt wake up. His appendix had ruptured which is why the pain went away, but all the poisons went into his blood, and killed him while he slept. he was only 21. Update:
spent the night in the ER just got home. they did all the requisite tests and a CT scan which ruled out and I quote "anything that could kill you" gotta love that bedside manner . I am back at home with MORE pain meds, have an appt with my PCM tomorrow morning. I and just going to eat, take meds and go to sleep. they didn't even give me fluids this time, of course my veins were uncooperative got stuck 7 times before they could draw for the cbc. butterfli25 said: Has anyone had appendicitis? this is a long story but....
I had surgery on the 15th of Jan to take out some lady bits. Recovery was slow. But I felt good except for this pain on my right lower abdomen. So I go to the surgeon and he says good to go. That pain is not related to the surgery and should resolve itself. 3 weeks later I go to my regular doc after a particularly bad night and he says it's from the surgery. 2 days later I go to the ER they do tests rule out appendicitis, ovarian torsion ( who knew that was possible?) give me pain pills and say go see the surgeon. The surgeon orders a CAT scan for the 19th. Ok I'll be dead by then. Any ideas? I swear this is my appendix but no one is listening and I am hurting like crazy. took 2 vicodin and 2 motrin 800's and I am still hurting. Looks like another trip to the ER for me Being a veteran of many operations sometimes the after pain is quite severe as nerves are knitting back together, although keep an eye on it because stitch abcess can also cause great pain. You need antibiotics for that. Also keep an eye on any bodily functions that change eg: blood in stools or frequency of passing stools - diarrohea etc as sometimes the bowel gets iritated and can cause pain and spasms. Make a note of when the pain is worse and the type of pain it is - eg: stabbing, comes and goes, throbbing. If you have any of the synptoms above - go to your Doctor. OMG! How did I miss this thread? Orgnotes siste!
OK, the pain would be on the right side, just above and slightly inward from your hip bone. You wouldn't be able to or want anyone to touch you there. Fever yes. vomitting and poop. I really had neither during the experience but felt like doing both. There is no definitive test for appendicitis. all they do is take blood/urine/stool samples and test for high levels of white blood cells which indicate infection. I am unsure whether a scan or x-ray would show that your apendix is inflamed. You don't survive this. The only reason I did is because there was a slow leak instead of the poison going in all at once. Do you taste bile or feel that in your stool or anything like that? the pain is unbelievable and will take grown men to the ground. Is the pain like that? Let me know how you are and how things are going! If it burst you will feel so unbelievably sick because you will be being poisoned. Anything like that? Also, if you could eat then it's not likely appendicitis. Now way in hell can you even think of eating while the attack is going down 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

ok so I went to the doc today and he poked and prodded OUCH and looked and said one of 2 things are happening. Either my ovary is dying (HELLO menopause) or I have nerve damage from the surgery
But he requested all my records, ER trips, surgical etc. gave me a referral to a NEW Gyn doc, gave me more pills, something to calm the nerves down and told me to watch input--no caffeine, fat, other bad stuff, and output- poop every other day at least, no vomiting, etc. I now have shoulder pain, which supports his theory of "nerves going haywire". He said my body did not like the invasion of the surgery and is rebelling and throwing out pain signals everywhere. He questioned me in depth today and I have pain in places I didn't even realize until he asked me. . So I have to go back to see him on monday. BUT the best thing he said to me was "WE are going to get to the bottom of this, stopping the pain isn't good enough, we need to see what this is" . so even though I am still hurting, yes even with pain meds, I feel like someone cares and is actually interested in the fact that I hurt. Oh yeah and he told me don't go back to that ER unless I am sure I am dying, because obviously they are not interested and it seems like the only reason they did the test was because I got visibly upset and they didn't want a scene. When I went this morning and got the records from tuesday night that is basically what the physicians notes said, my doc was right and he hadn't even seen the records yet. that really made me sad because this is where our young soldiers and their families go for treatment. At least I have the option of going to another ER they don't. The CT scan said there was a "lesion" on the ovary and should be followed up. That damn ER doc said nothing about that. Appendix looked good, but my doc still said he was going to watch it and actually mentioned chronic appendicitis. [Edited 3/4/10 14:04pm] sounds like that Dr is a keeper im glad he is going to follow it thru for you , nothing worse than pain with no diagnosis and to the ER dr.... after i had Ben, no one told me my white cells were elevated when they took bloods just before i was discharged...five weeks later, in hospital with kidney infection which Drs had put down to constipation due to iron tablets seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before
